Today is the National Day of Prayer and also the beginning of the Prayer Challenge. Is it kind of silly that we're setting up how many days to prayer for something? No, not really. As stated previously this challenge was set-up to motivate Christians to start praying, for their own country as well as foreign countries. We had almost 40 people sign up to take the challenge with us, which is excellent! I hope many more will do so, even if they don't sign their name or post about it.

The country I will be fervently praying for over the next 20 days is Cambodia. I had previously posted that when I was 8 years-old I had felt the a deep longing to minster to the people of Cambodia because they are in such a spiritual bondage. I did a lot of research about the country, culture, and people a few years ago so this is a country I can really pray for. It may yet be in the Lord's plans for me to go there as a missionary, but for now I will use one of the most powerful weapons against the enemy and demons, prayer.
Some specific things I will be praying for are....
This country has suffered a lot. I don't know if anyone has seen the film called the Killing Fields but it was a film about one of the most horrific times in Cambodian history.
A range of 1.4 to 2.2 million people died during the four years the ruthless Khemer Rouge was in power over the country. My missionary friend to Cambodia once told me that if you scoop up a hand full of dirt it will be full of teeth because the bodies of the dead were just tossed aside, anywhere, and are still there today. The Khemer Rouge did to the Cambodian people what Hitler did to the Jews, and it's heart-breaking.

The false beliefs of the Cambodian people to be reveled what they truly are. In Cambodia whenever a baby is born the people immediately place a necklace or bracelet on the child to keep the evil spirits away. There are currently 13million people living in Cambodia and 12,350,000 of those people believes and practices Buddhism. Islam is also present in Cambodia and is just above the percent of the population who are Believers. The Cambodian people need to see that this does nothing and they need Jesus Christ, in their tongue "Yeshu Kri", is the only one who can save them.

There is a lot of civil war going on in Cambodia, which is why more than %50 of the population is under the age of 25. It is also ranked the third most mined country in the world and as a result there are many deaths. There have been over 60,000 civilian deaths and thousands maimed and injured since the 70s. I praying for peace to come to the lands of Cambodia so that young boys will live to marry and mothers won't have to burry anymore of their children.
I know of missionaries who serve in Cambodia, and I will be praying that teir message of the Gospel, not only reaches the people's ears, but heart.
May the Lord bless you as your pray with me during the next 20 days.
Psalm 66:20
Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.
