Posted in Life Is Learning

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

This week's carnival is about Thanksgiving. As the holiday approaches, people are busying themselves with food, decorations, and reflections on what they are most thankful for.

Jennifer at New Beginnings shares about the Wonderful Autumn days. "I am just so happy that I am feeling better again"
Another version of the Pilgrims' first Thanksgiving, with traditional Indians sharing the meal.

Kris of Faithful Acres Farm writes about her Trials and Thanksgiving. Reflecting on what she has accomplished this year and what the Lord is doing in her life.

Rhonda of Glory Farm is also pondering on some things. Praying that the Lord would Help Her Have That Grateful Heart. "I pray, God bless this day and use it to your glory.  Help me not to detract from that glory, but to point people to it." Do we really have a grateful heart anymore? Or even a grateful attitude?

Eric at The Voice of Experience
shares with us about The Token... Being thankful is the most important thing, not just at Thanksgiving time, but all through the year. "I put my thoughts onto paper, thanking God for the bounty: the roof over my head, the food in the cupboard, and the family all around."

Debbie at Garden Of Your Hear is going to make sure all of her family reflects on what they are most thankful for. A wonderful thanksgiving activity to do with the entire family. "I put little pieces of paper on the table this morning and a container for everyone in our home to write every day one thing they are thankful for.  Each day they must write something different.  On Thanksgiving morning as we eat breakfast, we are going to read these!"  And she's not just being thankful once, not twice, but thrice over!

Cindy of Prairie Mouse's House
writes about her bountiful blessings as things she is thankful for as she participates in the Blogger Friend School: Bountiful Blessings

Need some nifty crafts to use in your homeschool during this Thanksgiving season? Sprittibee has a wonderful craft, which can be a Easy Gift Idea: Decorative Canned Cookies.

Ye Olde Scarecrow  is always there for some lively talk and fun... and yes, even singing. He has three Thanksgiving Carols for you all to join in on. A-la-la-la oh A-la-la-la!

So do you have a thanksgiving tradition that is celebrated in your family? Amy of Home Sweet Simple Home has a Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner every year with her family, complete with "Turkey and stuffing, gravy and mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce (homemade and that jell substance out of a can), yams, a veggie & cheese tray, green bean casserole and at least 3 kinds of pie (always at least one pumpkin pie!) and other assorted desserts."

So what do you put in your thanksgiving meal? Well, I suppose everyone gets up really early on thanksgiving day and starts to prepare the turkey? Rashel has an excellent treat for the early birds... cinnamon rolls

While we're waiting for the rolls to get done, Kitty helps us count down to the day. There's only One Week To Go. She's getting ready and including everything!

Getting ready can be tough, but Jacque of Seeking Rest in the Ancient Paths has everything down on the memo pad! From Carnival Reminders and Prayer Requests to a Homeschooling Tip! She has everything for HSBA Memo Monday!

I am a big pickle fan so pickles should definitely be included in the veggie tray next to the green bean casserole. Libby from Deep in the Mountains writes about how to make your delicious pickles.

Grandma Rosie helps us out with that cranberry sauce... homemade is always the best, right?

And what about the main dish... the turkey? Organic or Frozen Turkey - Which is best?  That is the question the UrbanHomemaker is asking and answering. The Front Porch is also helping out with the tukey... giving you step by step info on How To Roast A Turkey.

Karen of Country Life shares her Thanksgiving Day Menu,
and at Shekinah's Place, Page is on the roll with some delicious Parker House Rolls. Oh do they look wonderful!

And, I have been hearing quite a few strange things... turkeys who moo? Haha! What will be next... a elephant who thinks they can fly?

As I end the Thanksgiving Edition, I want to share with you Amy of Simple Folk's post, We're Pioneers This Weekend. Whenever we go to her blog, we always find something resourceful, and that is truly being thankful. Not wanting or needing to go and buy something, but using what you already have. Contentment and satisfaction, and that's simple for you.

Amanda of My Learning Experience writes about working...If we are thankful and happy to work, then we will be ready for anything. "How many of us don't have a mind to work, because we have other things, funner things to do than work?.... Desiring A Mind To Work"

During this season of being thankful, let us truly reflections on what the Lord has given to us, and not focus on the things we want. We will always have needs, but we always need to have a thankful heart, and it's not something you can buy. It's something you have to give yourself.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The next Homesteading Carnival will be hosted by Eric at The Voice of Experience. I hope you will participate and submit something so you can bring your homesteading life to others!
