Welcome to the 17th Homesteading Carnival: Autumn Harvests Edition
Welcome to the 17th Homesteading Carnival! This is edition is mainly about Autumn Harvests: Pumpkins, Squash and Apples... All signs that FALL is here! Fall is the time when the earth sheds it's summer coverings to prepare for the bare winter, and then the glorious spring. Fall is the time when we reap what we have worked for all summer and are now able to enjoy the fruits of our labors.
Pumpkins are a big symbol of the fall spirit. There is endless list of things to make with pumpkins... Last year BChsMamaof3 of Hub Hof Academy posted Pumpkin Pies recipes as every year we all break out in the mood for warm pumpkin pie.
Angela of Home and Family wrote about "Preserving Your Pumpkin Harvest"... Full of great tips on autumn recipes and pumpkins... The cranberry pumpkin bread is one I must try! Cranberries AND pumpkins?! Who could ask for more?
So you've dug out your pumpkin to make the delicious pies, but you've still got the left over seeds and pulp. What do you do? How about making some RANCH PUMPKIN SEEDS or SPICY ROASTED PUMPKIN SEEDS? Doesn't that sound good? I've never had pumpkins seeds but Amy of SimpleFolk is making me want to.
I think we've had our fill of pumpkins; how about an apple? Eva The Dining Diva has a WIDE assortment of apple dishes. From Caramel Marshmallow Apples and Honey Baked Apples to Apple Pancakes and Apple Fritters, and that's only four!
LaVonne of Serenity Sheep Farm wants to Put Up Apple Pie Filling for future use. Canning has enabled us to pull a can of food off the shelf and eat it. It's an old method and it's still going strong today in many homes. An excellent way to preserve your food.

Rachel of Rachel's Reasoning did canning for the first time this year. A whole new experience for this young lady of 13. It was a big deal for her, being the cook, country, wanna-live-in-the-1800's girl that she is.
As our houses fill with the sweet aroma of pies, pastries, and other lovely dishes... how lovely would a Russian Sage Wreath smell as you walked through your house? Linda of Crooked Creek Farm shows us how to make your wreath after trimming your bush.
Stacey of Joy of Truth writes about how "Delightful Autumn!" is... she even wrote a beautiful poem about it along with her thoughts.
And the urbanhomesteader, michele, also put her thoughts about Fall down on her blog, "My favorite season is the fall. I love the woodsy smells that come from the earth. I don't exactly know what it is but it's intoxicating."
Catherine Love~ Ramblings from my Heart and Home expounds on the Change of the Season, and not only talks about the first day of fall with her girls, but also "rambles" on her change of season in her spirit and how God has been tugging on her heart.
As fall has come around so have the fall festivals, right here on Amusing Reflections a of CountryGirl, I got to experience the whole pioneer life at the Johnny Appleseed Festival! how great God is and how He has allowed us to grow in the way we live.
Page of Desiring a Simple Life writes from England, and tells about the wonderful Harvest Festival they have going on there. A wonderful way to share what God has given to us with others.
Rose of Roses Are Pink also took part in the historical reenactments, A Civil War one, as is tradition for her family. Being the very accomplished young lady that she is, she made a beautiful gown to fit the era. You must check it out.
Jacque of Seeking Rest on the Homestead shares her thoughts about a wonderful magazine, that you ay have heard of: The Girlhood Home Companion. A wonderful magazine designed to shape daughters into a Godly Woman. It's "Beauty For Your Daughter's Heart". Jacque says, "this is not the regular mag you will find on today's rack. It is not one that encompasses today's expectations of girlhood. It does not encourage the worldliness that is commonly accepted in tv and movies or the idea of the teen philosophy taught even in christian churches."
And, I will leave you, on this fine Autumn day, with tale of an unforgettable experience with
SuperHorseSteader in "Oh the Pain". Amanda of My Learning Experience has learned a great lesson this past week... She shoulda named her horse Biter since she now has a massive bruise on her arm. Stop over there and offer your condolences!
Happy Autumn!
Jocelyn
