Got Milk? Uh, Goat Milk?
A few weeks ago when I first started milking my 2 does I was only getting 2 cups from both of them put together. I didn't think that was enough so I asked Coie what she did. She said she gets a gallon at least, I think from each goat too... so she said she separated the kids from the does at night and then a few hours before the next milking at night. I tried it and now I am getting almost 6 cups from each does!
We don't drink too much milk so its piling up in our fridge... I did freeze some of it. I would like to make soap and cheese. I need rennet to make the cheese but I don't know where to get it... anyone else?
And how do you make your soap. I have Storey's Guide To Raising Goats, which says I need borax and few other soap bases....
Thanks for your help! |

Thanks for the link! :) Actually, the goats were giving a collective 1 gallon per day. They are giving more now though-- I had to order more jugs because they filled up too high!
