"Never doubt in the dark what God has shown you in the light". -Michelle Terrill
Appetizer
From which country(s) are some (or all) of your ancestors? Scotland (Johnstons), England (Hubbard...really, like Ol' Ma Hubbard went to the cubbard), Germany (Mehrens), and Denmark (Petersons).
Soup On a scale from 1- 10 with ten being the most active- how would you rank yourself. That's a really hard one for me. I don't think of myself as really active, but I don't sit down much. Can't answer that one.
Salad You head into the pet store. Which section do you go for first? Anything small fuzzy and cute.
Main Course Name three odd or unusual things about yourself that most people might not know (hidden talents, gifts, dreams, likes, hobbies, etc...)
1) I used to want to be a viking when I grew up (what does that say about me?). Of course there was this cute viking cartoon at the time that I watched... 2) Everytime I think I'll start really playing the guitar, I become great with child again and my stomach gets in the way (hey, I know that sounds like an excuse). 3) I like putting my hands in the dirt, my husband says planting is just an excuse for playing with dirt. 4) I don't ussually don't cry when it seems (to me) to be appropriate to cry, and I cry when it is most inconvenient .
Dessert How would you describe your sneeze? Um, very loud, satisfying and earth shattering! aaaAAAAAaaaAAAaaaHCHOOOOOOOOo!!!!!!!!! Excuse me! I want everyone to share in the blessing with me ...um, the auditory part, not the "other" part (spray).

My husband's great-grandfather came over from Scotland and his name was Johnstone - he dropped the "e" and Dick's grand-father dropped the "t" so I married a Johnson.
My older daughter went to Europe with a high school choir group, and brought back a piece of the family plaid.

I have Johnstone's in my family line. My GGGreat grandfather had a sister Margaret Louisa Thompson who married John Taylor Johnstone in the 1840's and moved from NC to MS.
This is from my notes:
Margaret Louisa Thompson moved with her brother Noah Hinton Thompson and a sister to Mississippi. She was a half first cousin to her husband. He died at age 47, but her brother, Lewis and her son-in-law, William Britton, oversaw the operations of the plantations. She started construction of the Chapel of the Cross in 1848, just a few hundred yards from the log cabin she and her husband lived in. She oversaw the construction , it took three years to build. The bricks used to build the chapel were baked by slave labor on the plantation. The large wooden beams used to build the chapel were hewn from large oak trees on the plantation. This chapel sits away from the road in a grove of large oak and magnolia trees.
The body of her husband was exhumed from the flower garden and reburied behind the chapel. Margaret began work on " Annandale", a mansion of 40 rooms, three stories high, with hallways on the first two floors measuring 24 X 80 ft. The landing on the stairway was large enough to hold an orchestra for the dances in the long hallways. It even had a water tank on the third floor to provide running water for the mansion.
Wow!

That is fascinating! Like I told Thatday, my grandpa Johnston's dad, uncles (and I think older brothers) died in an avalanche in Oregon when he was a toddler. I think I have a family tree for his side of the family (now that I think of if). Written by my dad's aunt in Oregon. Got to go! I should be folding clothes, putting them away, and cooking dinner :)
It's HubbarT, Jenette! ;-)

My mom's mom would turn over in ther grave, Nette! (Just kiddin'!) She was very big on reminding people thather name was NOT spelled with a "d". She was nOT going to be associated with the old lady and her cupbarD—ever! (But, then, I doubt that I ever told you that!)
YOu got the sneeze form me, Nette!

About Me

A non-green thumb who loves plants, and wants to know "why" about everything, likes to eat what is fresh, and is so amazed at the world God has made, and sometimes not so impressed by the things man can make, who wants to learn how to be a good care-taker of all that God has blessed us with, and be thankful and generous with it. Oh yeah, and I homeschool :)
