Sew Much Sewing

Hello!

I am not new to blogging but I am new to homesteadblogger. I initially wanted to start this blog for the purpose of giving advice and fun tips on sewing projects. But it will probably be a range of around the house stuff.

The other day my mom and I decided to repaint/redecorate her kitchen. It wasn't a big deal because she had wanted to do this for a while. We went to the store to get the paint, and my mom decided that she wanted to get fabric to make new curtains too. So I automatically assumed the job that I was so familiar with - sewing.
We painted her kitchen a pretty "almost country blue, but not quite" (as she so perfectly describes it), to go with her new cobalt blue kitchen accessories that she has been picking up at antique stores etc. The fabric that she got is a pretty blue toile on a cream background.
When deciding what kind of curtains my mom wanted, we were reminded that curtains with the scallop edge were very complicated to make, and almost never turned out like the store bought ones. So we explored other ideas.
She has three windows in her kitchen. One is above the sink (a superb place for a window, she loves it there), beside the door to the outdoors, and on the door.
The one on the door is not a full sized window but she wanted it to be fully covered. The one above the sink is a normal sized window, and the other one is also.
She finally decided that for the window by the door she wanted a plain drape that went to the bottom of the window with a little false valence that was connected to them at the top.
Then for the window above the sink she wanted the same thing except she wanted for the valence to be separate from the drapes. And for the window on the door, she just wanted a drape that covered the window.
I hope that my mom will love her new curtains when I get done with them.

And hopefully I get them done quickly:)
