Vacation - getting tons done!!!
I'm officially on vacation this week - after 3½ years of not having one. I told the office not to call me or email me or contact me because I wouldn't answer the phone. Truth be told, I'm having so much fun and getting so much done!!!
We had a glorious Easter celebration on Sunday. I watched the Easter sunrise in peace and quiet on Sunday. Then, we went to church Sunday morning and followed it up later that afternoon with an Easter dinner with hubby's parents. We had a wonderful time.
By the way, I bought a 16 pound whole ham for Easter dinner. My mother-in-law also made turkey and dressing so there was tons of food. So, out what was left of the ham, I made 7 quarts of ham bone soup and 3 quarts of ham stock. Plus, I have enough little ham pieces for several batches of beans. Plus, I have enough ham frozen for about 4 more dinners. That's quite a bit of ham!! I still have about 3 quarts of ham stock left to can, but I think I'll make something else with it instead. I canned most of yesterday!
We also got most of the garden into furrows yesterday. Hubby has a little bit left and we should be ready to plant. I hope to start getting some of the plants in the ground next Saturday. We also worked in the flower beds (the kiddos and me) yesterday and the kids planted their flowers. I hope they turn out really pretty this year. They will just love that!
If I haven't mentioned it lately, my hubby is the best husband in the world. He worked 9 hours yesterday, came home and helped me work in the garden. He is so awesome and I truly love him. Plus, he went with the kids down to the tank (what some call a pond) to see what the kids caught in the minnow trap (2 perch, 1 huge tadpole and tons of minnows).
As for today, I think we're going to go have some fun. I also need to work on Lauren's quilt this week, plus fix our homemade deodorant (made a bad batch) + make some homemade wipes. I hope y'all are each doing well!
