Strawberry Jam
Yesterday was probably the best Mother's Day I've ever had. I did all the things that I love to do:
1. Pick strawberries at a local strawberry farm.
2. Eat lunch out (no dishes!).
3. Quilting (still working on my son's quilt).
4. Put up 10 jars of strawberry jam (for the very first time and every one of them sealed and congealed appropriately). Yeah!!!!!!!!!
5. Went fishing down at the river.
6. Hubby brought home dinner from Johnny Carrino's.
We had such a great, action-packed and fun-filled day. That's how I love to spend my days - busy. I had quiet time with God in the morning, before anyone else was up and it just set the tone to the best day ever.
Next weekend we're going back to the farm to pick up more strawberries and lots of blackberries. We bought 17 pounds of strawberries yesterday. I individually froze (whole) about 7-9 pounds, canned 10 ½-pints gave some to my MIL for Mother's Day (along w/ a jar of jam) and we still have 1 box left. If we don't eat most of them by Wednesday, I'm probably going to freeze those or make another batch of jam (which is probably what I'll do).
I hope y'all each had a great day yesterday!

We love the strawberry jam. I put up 17 half pints and that was not nearly enough. I wish now I had put up that many. The place where we get them is through making for the year.
Blessings,
Trixi
