I'm happy to say that my seedlings are all doing well. Hubby bought me some potting soil yesterday so I transplanted 10 cucumbers plants into boxes that I've been gathering. I have a few more boxes as of this morning so I'm going to take those home and get them ready for the remainder of the cucumbers I have. I really want to have beautiful cucumbers this year. I'd love to make our own pickles this year!
The potatoes are doing nicely. I planted the seed potatoes in large boxes and as they start to grow, I'll add more soil on top of them. Right now they're doing great and they seem to be growing like crazy. I've already added a layer of soil to the top (as of earlier this week).
The garlic is also doing quite nicely, as are my sweet onions.
Earlier this week I planted four tomato plants into the garden and covered them with milk jugs (with the bottoms removed to act as little greenhouses). It's been kinda warm here but I'm still babying the little plants for now. I should have a few more rows of tomatoes to plant within the next week.
I have 22 popcorn plants growing in the garden. They, too, seem to be doing quite nicely. We love popcorn so I'm excited to see if they'll actually do well.
And, with less than 10 days to Easter, the garden is progressing nicely. I'm hoping that a late cold front doesn't come through, but we'll see. If so, I can still cover the few plants in the ground and they should be fine.
We've had lots of rain lately so I really haven't had to water, which has been nice. It would be great if we had a wet summer...that would help tremendously!!
I have a few pictures of my garden, which I hope to post sometime in the next few days.
Until then, God's blessings!! |
