Last night my hubby discovered a new use for an old magazine:  a mouse pad!!  We've gone without a mouse pad for several years (simply because our mouse would move easier without one).  Anyway, we bought a new mouse last night after our bit the dust and hubby thought he'd try to use a mousepad this time.  We didn't have one so he used an old magazine instead and it works quite well!!  I just thought I'd share this little tip for those that don't use one either.  He also thought of taking off the cover and taping it down but the magazine itself works just as well!
