My life is wonderful ...
I was reading on another blog the conviction of this person and her family to go out further and to be more independent. I think a lot of us feel that same way...to live the simple life, free from the burdens of "normal" society.
My husband and I talk about this regularly. We love living the simple life...baking and cooking from scratch, chopping our own firewood instead of buying it, heating our home with the wood we cut rather than having central heat, growing our own food, etc. Some necessities I don't want to live without (like a washing machine), but others I can (like a dishwasher).
We strive to be independent, owing nothing to anyone (i.e. being debt free). We, too, feel the need to escape to the country (even farther than we are now). We are the outcasts of those we work with, simply because of how we live (very humbly). Our blessings are not counted in terms of dollars or vehicles or a large house, but in the stores of love that come to us from our children, our marriage and our family. We are truly blessed spiritually and emotionally. Our children are happy, homeschooled munchkins who absolutely love life. They don't realize we live in less than 800 square feet in a house that looks like a barn (it's actually very cute and cozy - my hubby built it with his brother and father). All they see is home. They don't know what it's like to be bullied, considered an outcast and teased. All they know is that their friends are their parents, a few well-chosen friends of like-minded people and their grandparents and aunts/uncles all love them and cheirsh them.
They know that God sent Jesus to die on the cross for their sins so that they can go to heaven. They accept Jesus and love Him just as they do a member of their family. It doesn't matter that they can't see Him because they can feel Him in their hearts. When they're hurting they ask for me to pray for them (out loud that is - because they have to hear it). And, it makes them feel better.
What more could I ask for? A loving, caring, funny husband who tries his best to honor God's wishes for himself and his family, who loves me (his absolutely wonderful adoring wife - LOL) and who is the best Daddy in the whole world plus the two beautiful children who love God and accept Him and know that He loves them. I am truly blessed.
I just thought I'd share that ... my love is running deep today and I needed to get it out!

Amen,
I don't know how I missed this post. You have a great life and you sound very thankful. That is the fruit. Anyway, we are slowly (it feels) but surely heading in the same direction. We are already taken criticism but that is to be expected. The closer we are to Jesus the more the world is going to reject us because it rejected Him. 1 John 3:1
Blessings,
Trixi
