Homestead Journal at Fat Turkey Farm

Night Noises

It was quite the noisey night around Fat Turkey Farm.  Normally it's pretty quiet out here in the country, the occasional dog barks, a few coyotes howl, but otherwise, you don't hear much.

Not so last night.

Something was padding back and forth under my window at 3 am and not being subtle about it either.  It wasn't any of my critters since they were all locked up safe and sound.  It was too noisey to be a coyote or a loose dog.  This was more like a javalina, which is a wild pig that roams around Arizona.  I went looking for the critter but didn't manage to find it lurking around my yard.  I'll have to have a look-see for little piggie foot prints in the dirt when the sun gets up.

That is, if they are still there and not obliterated by the wind, which is cause for other noises that I was hearing.

Yup, its been howling around the place since about 4 am.  We must be getting another storm front coming thru the state.  I'll have to listen to NOAA weather in a bit and see what they are saying about that.  Wonder if I will blow away on my walk this morning?

No goat baby yet, although it's looking like her udder is making changes, so there is hope yet!

Got another skein of yarn spun up last weekend.  Started another one from some Lichester a friend gave to me.  That's nice stuff to spin.

Gotta get going and walk before I get blown off the road.  Bye Bye!

Do update us and let us know what, if anything, you find when you check things out! Isn't it amazing what all can go on during the night? Our local yipping yetis (the coyotes) have their summer cubs up and running already here, too. We hear them everynight at dusk as they rotate pasture to pasture.
