Homestead Journal at Fat Turkey Farm

And Now.....

Back to our regularly scheduled program!

The farm sitting job is done.  My neighbors came home yesterday from their vacation.  Life returns to normal once again.  I did enjoy getting to work around horses again though, and will miss being able to go up and scratch their noses and talk to them.  Don't think I will miss mucking the paddock though, .

The kids and I started our new homeschool year two weeks ago.  Sadly, it's gotten off to a rough start.  The kids don't want to sit and "do" school.  I think it will take a few more weeks to get back into the swing of things.  This sort of thing does discourage mom though.

I have been combing fiber into roving when I'm not busy with everything else around here.  Those combs are wicked looking, but boy do they do a fantastic job of fiber prep.  (Note to self, save money for your own combs, so you don't have to keep borrowing them)  I have three large balls of roving ready for spinning, and hopefully I can get to that sometime this week.  I have one bobbin full at the moment that I will be Navajo plying.  That seems to be the easiest way for me to get a fatter yarn, since I spin so dang skinny.

Got one pair of socks off the needles.  I just need to weave in the ends to make them wearable.  I wasn't very happy with the pattern I used, so I think I won't be using that one again.  I had alot of trouble with the heel on them.  Oh well, I'll keep searching for that elusive pattern that will fit my big feet.  At the moment all my needles are sitting in their holder doing nothing.  For once in my career as a knitter, I am knitting nothing!  Ok, that just has to change!

I better go find something to knit!  Bye Bye!

I can't believe it! Your fibery projects look and sound awesome, though!

I have yet to try and master the process of combing- and would love a photo tutorial (hint, hint!)
Hang in there with the kids, "this too shall pass...."
I know, easy for me to say, but it does sound good!
