Guild Meeting

{ 06:03, September 17, 2006 } { 0 comments } { Link }

Yesterday was the monthy guild meeting of the Mountain Spinners and Weavers.  I was able to get to go WOOHOO!  The first part of the meeting was the business stuff, followed by a social time, then we got to have a program from two of our weaver/spinner/dyer's.  One gal spoke on a class she had taken on weaving with metal.  Very interesting stuff she was doing with metal wire and copper strips.  She wove it on a regular loom, and inkle loom, and in Kumihimo.  The other gal spoke about Batik dying and the process involved with that.  She passed around samples of what she had done, and was explaining how she wanted to try the technique on her handwoven fabric to see what effect she would get with that.  I would like to see how that works out on handwoven!

I borrowed a pair of wicked looking wool combs from another member so I can get this long staple, very crimpy mystery wool into roving.  I tried to run it on the drum carder, but boy, that sure didn't work out well!  The staple on it is about 4" long!  So, I'll be trying it on the combs to see what I get.

Time for chores!  Bye Bye!
