Wendy at A Homestead Heart asked for my English Muffin Recipe, so here it is.
Honey Whole Wheat English Muffins 2T yeast 2 C warm water (105 degrees) 1/2C shortening 4t salt 4T honey or maple syrup 5-6C Whole Wheat flour Cornmeal
Disolve yeast in water. Add shortening, salt, honey, and enough flour to make a good dough.
Knead 10 times, or until dough is elastic.
Roll out 1/2" thick and cut with round cutter (I use a drinking glass)
Place on baking sheet that has been sprinkled with cornmeal. Sprinkle cornmeal on top of muffins.
Cover and let rise for about 1 hour.
Bring a griddle or fry pan up to 350 degrees. Gently place muffins in pan/griddle and let them "fry" for 5-7 mins per side. Cool on a rack. This makes 12-14 muffins depending on the size of your cutter.
Eat!
In other news....
Been having afternoon thunderstorms round my place the past few days. Actually got rain, which is a good thing since I am surrounded on three sides by wildfires at the moment. They arn't close enough for me to have to bug out of here, so no worries!
The lace is done on the bottom of the Lotus Blossom sweater and I got two inches of the body done yesterday! Woo Woo!!
A friend of mine, a weaver, is coming over today to see about getting my loom in working order. She has reeds that will fit in it, so I can toss the rusty one away! It still does need string heddles to be made and I don't know what all else yet. I'll keep you posted on its progress.
Still no signs of heat with Miss Jar Jar Goats. Its been 5 weeks since her date with her boyfriend.
Miss Rosie goose has started laying eggs again. So far this week she has given us three beautiful HUGE eggs. The nightly serenade's have NOT stopped yet either.
Time to go for a walk! Bye Bye! { Post a Comment } { Last Page } { Page 101 of 202 } { Next Page } |
