Homestead Journal at Fat Turkey Farm

Busy Weekend here

Wow was it busy around here this weekend.  I'm not even sure that I can remember everything that I did!

On Friday after our homeschool playgroup, my friend Vickie, of the picture fame, came over and we put together two book shelves that went into the dining room.  They hold our homeschool books, encyclopedias, and various other books on different things like making candles, soap, homesteading and so on.  We then had tea and a lovely chat while the kids all played.  We got our van back, all fixed up and looking pretty.  I also ran laundry.

Saturday I cleaned the carpets in the house again.  Light colored carpet gets dirty so fast!!!  I steam cleaned the arms of the sofa too, since they were getting a bit icky looking.  I also got books organized on the new shelves and was able to toss out 8 boxes!!!  I put a few more things into the storage shed and now I can walk thru the dining room without tripping!  I also got another run of 3 dozen dry eggs thru the grain mill and made into powder.  That gives me 6 dozen eggs dry now and in the freezer.  Each 3 dozen run gives me 1 1/2 pints of dry.  I also ran laundry.

Sunday I got my Forest Path Stole blocked, heres pics.

Here's a close up of the detail all stretched out.

Its hard to see the detail on the light colored carpet.  I had a horrible time trying to get it all even down the sides.  I think it will be ok though.  I also found where one stitch broke and now I need to try and figure out how to fix that.  Luckily its in the border and not in the pattern, so it should be fairly easy to do.  I got the kid's lesson plans done for the next four weeks, and that will carry us thru to the end of our school year.  Four weeks and we are done!!!  At least for this year.  I got some grain grinding done for the bread I need to make this week, but I only have about 1/4 of what I need, so I'll be doing that more today, tomorrow, and so on.  I got more Jacob wool washed too.  I have almost half of the fleece done now.  Sadly, I am finding lots of second cuts and have to toss out alot of the fiber.  I also did more laundry.

I think that's the extent of my weekend. I'm sure I have forgotten something!  Bye Bye!
