Monday, September 17, 2007 - Come One, Come All To The Homesteading Carnival #16

You are about to enter The Homesteading Carnival #16. We have some really great entries in this week's carnival. I had to go through the last 100 to pull most of them. So next week... be sure to send in your submission!! If you would like to host next week's carnival, please email us and let us know. We would love for you to host it.

Ok... let's get to those great entries this week. I hope your hungry, because we have tons of tasty recipes to share.

First we start at Chas of My Cup Runneth Over. She has a simple and delicious recipe for "Crockpot Apple Butter", to make sure you use up all those apples and peaches you have harvested this year! It is sure to be one you put in your recipe box!

Speaking of apples and peaches... Miki of Happy Keeper At Home has a "Apple/Peach Pie Filling (to can)" " for you. A friend is in search of ideas for her apples and Miki wanted to share her favorite recipe!

Peaches must be the "thing" this year, because Kitty of Kitty's Korner also has "A Very Very Easy Dessert" for you. Easy Peach Crunch. She even has pictures, so you can see how good it looks.

While we are in the kitchen, Grandma Rosie of My Texas Home has a great "Stromboli Wraps" recipe to share. It is a fairly easy to make dish and looks like it is quite good.

Pickles are a stable in our house and Footloosefarms has some nice "Bread And Butter and 14 Day Sweet Pickles recipes" to share.

Andrea of Homemakin' Mama shares an easy "Cornmeal Cheese Wedges" recipe. It looks really tasty!!Amy of SimpleFolk wants to know what do you do with your extra pumpkin seeds?? Amy has a recipe for yours so that they are not wasted. Can you believe that "The Frost is on the Pumpkin..." already?

Lastly, before we leave the kitchen, Amanda of My Learning Experience wants you to come over and taste "The World's Best Salsa EVER!!" She has a delicious recipe that will entice your tastebuds and maybe burn them?

Let's now go to the dining room, where we will have a little chat with Jacque of Seeking Rest on the Homestead, who has been having some fun doing some "Family and Genealogy Searches". It is fun to learn about who your family was and where they came from.

And lastly, Scarecrow of Ye Olde Scarecrow Of Andover, whose daughter asked him "What Was It Like When I Was Born (1958). . ." So he found out and this is what it was like. If you like history, it's very interesting to see what the world was like in 1958.

Even though its a little chilly outdoors here now, let's go to The Front Porch to see "How to Butcher a Chicken". Check out this great tutorial for getting your chicken from your barn to your table.

Are you getting your garden pulled in or your herbs boxes?? Amy of SimpleFolk has found a free ecourse for "Learning About Herbs". That looks like something we could all use.

Now is the perfect time to get your flowers transplanted if you want. Maa of Homesteadgirls shared about "Planting our mums today and caring for the birds". It is a delightful entry about how they are getting ready for winter.

Jocelyn of Amusing Reflections of A Country Girl tells us how she makes her own "Goat Feed - without the corn" to ensure that her goats get the highest nutrition.

Thank you for coming The Homesteading Carnival #16. Be sure to check back soon for where next week's carnival will be hosted and please send us your submissions.

As Always,
