One2Believe Nativity Set

Posted on 2008-Nov-7 at 07:53 by ElCloud - 0 Comments - Post Comment - Link

Our family was thrilled to receive the One2Believe Tales of Glory Nativity Set in the mail.  One2Believe is a Christian toy company whose vision is to provide toys that help parents bring their children up in the Lord.  They desire to see our children enter into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

This 18 piece set is attractively and carefully packaged.  The nativity itself is colorful.  It includes a stable with star attached, Joseph, Mary, Baby Jesus, manger, palm tree, 2 angels, a donkey, 2 sheep, 2 shepherds, 3 wise men, a camel, and a hay bale.  The nativity playset is well-made, from PVC, and designed for children ages 3 and up.  It includes a small booklet that tells about Christ's birth.

My children can't keep their hands off of the Tales of Glory Nativity set.  I keep reminding my older girls that it is meant to be played with.  They want it perfectly arranged on the coffee table at all times, but the younger children are eager to hold the pieces, rearrange them, and pretend with them.

Although it is a toy, it is also attractive to display.  We have found it to be well-made. It has survived aggressive play and continual use in the weeks that we have owned it.  Our 6 older children (ages 2, 4, 7, 9, 11, and 13) have all enjoyed it, but the 2 year-old and 4 year-old  have tested its quality daily.

We have had family here this week, including cousins ranging in age from 2 to 11 years old.  The other children also enjoyed looking at, touching, and playing with the Tales Of Glory nativity set.

The only negative thing about the Tales of Glory Nativity play set is that we continually have to track down missing pieces, which have wandered away with the help of our preschoolers.   Some of the pieces have even flown across the room, repeatedly.  But, somehow ... I think that isn't an issue with the nativity set itself, but the preschoolers instead.

One2Believe has many other Bible play sets, Bible action figures, and dolls, but the nativity set is my favorite.  It is the largest play set they currently sell, and it is available for $24.99 at the One2Believe website.  We have another children's nativity set that is similarly priced, but we really prefer the Tales of Glory Nativity Set.  It would make a wonderful Christmas gift to any child, or family with children.

The Missing Link: FOUND!

Posted on 2008-Nov-7 at 07:53 by ElCloud - 0 Comments - Post Comment - Link

I just finished reading The Missing Link: FOUND, the first book in the Truth Seekers Mystery Series by Felice Gerwitz and Christina Gerwitz.  Felice Gerwitz is an author, and the founder of Media Angels, a Christian publishing company.  Felice wrote the Truth Seekers Mystery Series with her homeschooled daughter, Christina.

When I first received this book to review, my 13 year old daughter ran off with it.  She was eager to read it, and enjoyed it very much.  She kept telling me about the book as we washed dishes, and as we ate dinner.  She was drawn into the story, and enjoyed learning more about creation science, which has been fascinating her for the past few months.

I sat down to read The Missing Link: FOUND last night.  It wasn't difficult for my 13 year old, or myself to read.  We both were drawn into the story line, and were interested in the outcome of the plot.  The scientific debate between evolutionists and Creation Scientists was informative.  The book explained the scientific facts involved in the debate in an understandable way, for older children.

Our only critique is that we both found editing errors in the book.  13 yo A first told me that there was a word left out here and there, and that several times the first quotation mark was left off a quote.  I only noticed one preposition left out of a sentence, but I did notice the missing quotation marks.

Due to the scientific discussions woven into the story, it would not make a good read-aloud for those with a wide age-range of children.   Most younger children would lose interest.  Families with only upper elementary and junior high age children would enjoy reading it together as a family.  However, I think it is most suitable for personal reading for the junior high student.

The Missing Link: FOUND is an enjoyable and educational book.  The Truth Seeker Mystery Series fills a need for interesting, wholesome, Christian books geared to junior high children.  The adventure mystery genre draws the reader in, while educating them about creation science.  The authors have found a niche with their emphasis on Creation Science and debunking evolution.

I would be glad to add The Truth Seeker Mystery Series to our family bookshelf.  It is a good series that my children would enjoy reading -- infinitely better than many of the new series being added to bookstore shelves around the country.  I'm looking forward to reading the remaining two books in the series.

The Missing Link: FOUND
can be purchased from Media Angels website for $8.99 in softcover format ... perfect stocking stuffers for Christmas.  The 3-book series can be purchased for $22.00, saving nearly $5.00.   There are literature study guides to use in your homeschool available for each book, at $6.50 each.  A 3-book, 3-guide set is sold for $40.  While visiting the Media Angels website, you can look at their other Creation Science studies.

For Today...

Outside my Window... cold cold cold winds, which is why I can't see out my window, because I never opened my thermal drapes today.

I am thinking... that I might be getting sick, along with my kids.  My ear is hurting.

I am thankful for...  nebulizers, and a Dr. who will call in prescriptions for my kids without seeing them.

I am wearing... blue jeans, light blue sweater, light blue fake crocs.

I am going... to fold laundry tonight.

I am reading... The Missing Link:  FOUND.

I am hearing... The Grinch on tv.

Around the house... humidifiers, nebulizer, tissues, sick kids

One of my favorite things... time with my husband.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week... visit my father-in-law before he enters hospice care, prepare for a funeral.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...  this is what you'll find in my kitchen and hallway again, since the hot summer days are over.
