My big job for the day is cleaning out the cabinet in the kitchen. Its one of the large stand up pantry cabinets, but we use it for cook books and school storage. It's been a catch all for some time! I'm getting close to being done finally. I'm also almost caught up on the dishes and laundry again. I made some laundry soap this morning as I ran out on the weekend and was just to sick to make more. I've been feeling really yucky lately. Thankfully baby girl is sleeping through the night now so the extra sleep will help me I'm sure. Another project for this week is my book shelves. It doesn't take long for the kids to unsort things! LOL I'll be moving some of my books to the shelves in our bedroom to make room for school reference books. |

A homemaking magazine for the whole family! Our first issue, is a holiday issue themed around giving. Mothers and daughters will find encouragement to continue to learn the traditional skills to make their homes warm and inviting. Husbands will also be encouraged through occasional additions such as furniture making and car repair. Older girls will have fellowship from other girls who are choosing to learn how to keep a home, rather than go on to careers outside the home. Homeschooling, starting small businesses, sewing, quilting, baking with whole grains are just some of the regular columns that will be featured in each issue. To mention a few, we have wonderful authors and small business moms, such as Rebekah Wilson (Hope Chest Legacy) Martha Green (Marmeedear), Kim Mills (Homestead~acres) and Cindy Brown (My Little Primer, cirruculum on the Little House books), that will share their wisdom and experience to encourage all of us. Keeping busy in our homes prevents us from leaving our homes to find extra activities to fill in the time. Subscribe to our first issue coming just in time for the Holiday season! To subscrbe to the premier issue please come to Homestead Acres |

Here's a pic of our "new" washer. I just LOVE it!! It cleans great, uses a lot less soap and water to.

Today I've been working on our big laundry pile (from having a broken washer). I took a small load out of the dryer before lunch and set it on a chair in the kitchen. I planed to put it way while lunch was cooking but got busy with the kids. Dh laughed (it was on his chair) and moved it onto my computer chair. He said jokingly that we should all put out laundry to be put a way on our computer chairs. Then we can't sit down until it's all put a way! LOL Now he was teasing because I usually do get it all put a way quickly but I thought it was funny and a good idea! |

Ok it's all happened to us at one time or another. We've been sick all week or just very busy. The house has gotten a head of us and we just got a phone call. Company is coming soon YIKES!!! Well it doesn't take that long to whip your house into reasonable shape. If you have very small children sit them at the table with some activity while you work. If you have older ones get them helping with you!
1st. Go into each bathroom and put cleaner in the toilets and sinks. Then leave it to soak and do it's job for you.
2nd. If you have a dish washer load it up and get it working for you. If you don't then fill the sink up with hot soapy water and get them soaking.
3rd. Then grab your broom and give the bare floors a quick sweep. Don't worry about moving furniture right now, just get the walking areas cleaned up. Also vacuumed the main area of your carpet if you have one.
4th. Ok now if your hand washing your dishes go back to them now. They wont take long to do after the nice hot water has softened any stuck on food. If you have big kiddies get them helping to, they can wash if they are old enough or help put a way.
5th. Then go through the main area of your home (kitchen, living room, bathrooms) and through out any trash, put away any clutter laying about. If your in a REAL rush put it all in a box and tuck the box in a closet. You can deal with it when your company leaves. But it's best to do it now if you can.
6. Now get a wash cloth and cleaner and wipe down your table, and counter tops.
7. Ok now take another look at your floors. Do you see any were that needs a spot mop? Grab a bottle of spray cleaner ( I like fantastic but even vinegar/water works) and sprits the areas. Give it a quickie mop.
