Homestead Acres

Excited to be here!

Posted in Just Thoughts

WOW This is great!  I'm so excited to see a homestead community setting up!  My dh Andy and I have a passion for the simple life.  We've gone from a farm with out electric or running water to apartments to were we are now.  3/4's of an acre in a tiny village.  We are fixing this place up to sell and move on to more land again.
We raise meat rabbits to sell and for our own use.  And I'm looking forward to getting chickens in the spring again.  I so miss my fresh eggs!
I have many interest from gardening and baking to sewing and other hand crafts.  I'm looking forward to sharing my homestead adventures with you!

Wow, no electricity or running water! We have talked about how we'd do in that setting and we both agree that the electricity could go but we couldn't do without the water!

WELCOME--glad you're here ;) Wow--no water, that would be a tough one, those buckets git heavy carryin' em in from the crik--I can't imagine doing that everyday...

But --you do what you have to do! I would certainly have my arms in shape in no time! :)

Welcome.....

2006-Jan-5 - Hello

Living without water and power is a doosy. I had to give that one up when my oldest was born and I used cloth diapers. Somehow the logistics just didn't work to well for me. LOL We did get a well dug and I pumped water but washing in the tub and heating the water was still a little more than what I could do . Oh my, do you know how long it has been since I thought about those times.
I went to a duplex instead of the apartment, too funny.
Hope to get to know more about you.

Welcome. I'm so happy to meet you. I need to find one of those loom knitter thingies. I want to learn to knit but haven't been very successful yet. Would you know where to get those looms?

We too live in a small village on an acre. We are trying to buy it. We live in a 1910 bungalow and are rehabbing it as we go, buying from the owner. We still have inspections to go thru before the final word on buying. I hope it's a go cause I can't wait to get started on more permanent things. I want to have a garden this summer.
I look forward to visiting here more. You can visit mine if you have a moment.
In His Service, in search of the simple things,
Sherri
