Well I'm late getting this posted. A few weeks ago my oldest dd (5 years old) started to learn to crochet. She's been busy making lots of chains. She's so happy with her self and can't wait until she can learn to make some thing "real".

How wonderful! It is always so much fun when the girls really start showing interest in things that will be so helpful to them when they have their own home and family. Tell her to keep up the good work!

We taught our 12 yo son how to crochet and got him started on a granny square - he absolutely loves that he is making something (he is figuring that it will be a blanket for his Gramma).
Our 9 yo daughter has recently learned how to knit using the Portuguese method - instead of using regular knitting needles, she uses afghan hooks. Her first project is a poncho for her Canadian Girl doll that she is getting.
These are such wonderful skills that we, as parents, can pass on to our children - almost like 'passing the torch' on to them (my Gramma taught my Mom, my Mom taught me and I have taught my son and daughter).
