Well yesterday we had some terrible storms in the area! There was a warm front going through and it was in the 30's C. We'd had rain and light t-storms on and off all day. But in the evening a BAD one started coming in. We were watching the radar live on the Internet. While I don't normally like to have it on in a storm I'd rather fry the computer then not know what's heading towards us! It was a very large and nasty squall coming off the lake. We were on the porch watching to see were the clouds were moving to. The thunder was NON stop growling, the kind you hear in movies about storms. We've never heard anything quite like that before. We knew a few miles a way they were getting it bad. Then they also put out a tornado warning. At least 5 were spotted with the storm but a few of them were probably the same tornado. We saw a lot of cloud rotation and other scary patterns. At one point the whole system just switched directions and started heading into our area. We were just about to grab the kids and head to the basement when it switched back! The storm we were watching dropped a tornado not 5 miles from our place. Thankfully know one was hurt! There were trees broken, and a driving shed ripped apart and scattered for over a kilometer. The storm had tornadoes on the ground for over an hour and a half and had hail larger then tennis balls at times we heard on the news. I was so very glad dh was home to help with the kids if it had come this way! |
