This and That

We had a really busy weekend. Friday we had a midwife appointment, this time a home visit. While our other midwives know were we live our secondary midwife is new to the area. So it was nice to have her over and now she knows were to find us. :-) Baby's doing great and it's just a waiting game now. I'm due in just two weeks, my how the time has gone by! But by how I'm feeling I wouldn't be surprised to come a little sooner. :-)
We've also finally picked out names, well I should say dh has. LOL It took him until last week to settle on a girls name he liked. If it's a wee boy it will be Nathan Lawrence and a girl will be Cassandra Faith.
I don't know if I shared this but at our last midwife appointment (before the home visit) that day on the way home our van broke a back leaf spring. Dh was turning around and bang and then the back end sagged down. Luckily we were not far a way from home! It turned out the parts were a dealer item and to get it from them was going to be 400.00 for each spring and you really need to do both sides at the same time. If you don't the van wouldn't sit level. So it was going to be around a thousand dollars that we didn't have. Our mechanic said he knew a place that built them locally, a bit cheaper. So we thought we'd go that route. Then he found a really good used set much much cheaper. So the cost to have both back sides replaced was less then the price of one new part. Thank the Lord!!! As it turned out the back right all 4 springs were broken and the back left 3 of the springs were broken. Anyway we were very happy to get our van fixed and back since baby's due so soon lol. Our truck was also off the road at the same time as the brakes went. Dh was able to replace all of them and at least get to work while we waited for the van to be fixed.
That same weekend I had a day out with a friend. It will probably be the last quite girls day for at least a year after the new little one comes. We went down to the city and hit some new/used book stores and thrift shops. I love book shops! LOL The first one I found some good nature and history books I can use along with the girls curriculum this fall. Also a old hard cover book of Aesop fables for only a dollar and change! Knowing what Chapters charges for these books I was so happy to find them.
Then we went to Chapters and I only picked out two of the books on my list. Children's books were so expensive! After that we headed to Value Village a nice thrift shop. I found some skirts there that will fit after the wee one is born. Then looked in the book section. I found a huge stack of Beatrix Potter books there! There was 19 in all so I just need 3 more to compleat the set. The sign said children's books were .99 each I thought that was a great deal. I'd just seen the exact same small hard cover books in Chapters for 10.00 each! But when I got to the check out they gave them to me for 2 for .99!!! I'd also got a few other little books there and a deep dish ceramic pie pan that I've always wanted.
Then we had a nice lunch at Swish Chalet and then had a look in Toys'r'Us. I found a packaged set of chess/checkers/Chinese checkers/tick tack toe and also got baby girl a new ball.
It was so nice to have a quiet day out.
Our living room is getting closer to being done. We picked up the trim and paint for the bottom half of the room on Sat. The bottom half that we did in the paneling is going to be painted a blue/gray color and the top drywall part left white. Dh has started putting up the trim and I'm REALLY hoping the rooms done by the end of the week. I REALLY lol want to get our stuff back in there. This nesting Mommy wants to get her house back in order before the little one comes. :-D
I'm also trying to make up my mind about a kitten. Last fall I bought a orange Manx female from a breeder friend. I'm really wanting the male to be a Siamese pointed Manx. They are hard to get! Every once in a while she has one pop up. Right now she has one that's about 6 weeks old. But it likely wont be breading quality the back end isn't right and he'll pass that on to the kittens. But she has a dark chocolate one from the same blood line that is a good breeding quality and will probably eventually through the Siamese pointed ones with my female. So I'm trying to decide whether to get that one or keep waiting. My friend is up visiting with her sister who's the breeder. So I have to let her know in a few days if I want it. She can bring it back down with her it's a long trip from here about 4 hours each way.
