Q&A - Thanksgiving

Q. Do you celebrate it with just YOUR family or do you visit with extended family? If you celebrate alone, how do you make it special-different from every other day? Actually, I might post this very question on my blog too. I really want to make it special...
Happy Thanksgiving to you...a bit late! I didn't realize you were from Canada! :-) Rebecca from Renaissance A. Heehee don't worry your not late :-) Our Thanksgiving is the second monday of October. And thank you!
We don't have family to get together with. My sister's family lives on the other side of the country and the only other family we keep contact with (long story) is my aunt and uncle. But we normally see them some time around Christmas. Some years we have had Thanksgiving alone but the last few years we've had a few friends over. We really like sharing a day with our friends. But on years we have been alone we like to do fun things with the kids all day. Rake up a pile of leaves to play in, go for a hike, talk with the kids about all that we have to be thankful for.
Maybe you could dress your table up a little. Make a center piece from pumpkins and sunflowers, play some music your family loves in the back ground. The kids could make festive place mats using large sheets of paper and laying leaves on the, spray paint around them for a nice fall look. Or if they are to little for that they could draw them. Just have fun!! |
