Q&A - Bonnets

Posted in Questions and Answers

Q. (snip) My question to you is, (finally!) did you sew them? And if so, would you be willing to explain to ME how to sew them? And possibly, if you know any websites with patterns-free or non (but preferably free!) would you mind sharing? I am looking for small AND large sizes. Especially large so my daughter can wear them now.

I miss those bonnets SO much! And since my littlest is a BOY, it might be a while before another sweet girl gets to don one. :-) Thank you ! Rebecca from Renaissance

A.  Hi Rebecca,  Yes I did make them except for the little green flowerd one.  But that is made from the same pattern I have.  I don't know of any free patterns online.  I do have all the ones put out by it's either McCalls or Simplicity I'd have to check.  BUT I didn't like them at all.  The size 6 girls is to big for an adult woman!!!  A few years a go a friend gave me her girls size 1 pattern.  I have just enlarged it as my girls grow to fit them.  I have also made a womans pattern.  Bonnets are so very easy to sew and I'd be happy to share my pattern with you.  Drop me an email, I couldn't find yours listed on your site.

2006-Aug-27 - Bonnets?

Posted by HarvestMom

Hi Kim,
What bonnets are you talking about? I was looking for an entry and can't find it.. My mother in law gave me tons of patterns from the 50's. Some are really sweet and I have bonnet patterns..like the little house on the prairie kind. I also looked at a little bonnet this am that doesn't fit Zusanah anymore and was thinking about cutting it apart to trace the pattern..haha! I think we got it for Madison about 8 years ago when she was born. :)
The verse Prov. 17:22 was Madisons to memorize when she was going through a tough time of being sweet. We have some funny memories of her using it..
Blessings Theresa

Thanks for answering BOTH my questions-from the shoutbox AND the comments section! I am so excited about the possibility of making those bonnets myself! Now I have the potential to make matching ones as well! My email address is nuevo-hombres@netzero.net.

Thanks again! Rebecca from Renaissance
