Dh took me to get a few hens this weekend.  We picked out 3 for now, it sure is nice to have freash eggs again!!!  We haven't had chickens since we had to move from our old farm 4 1/2 years ago.  So far we've got 3 eggs today.

I am learning more and more about homesteading. If you want to hear something funny.. my friend went to visit some friends of hers and was telling me about her chickens. She said, "Have you ever seen a tiny red blood drop in the egg when cracked open?" Sure I have, the egg is bad! She said, "No, it's fertilized." What's that mean, I asked! The look she gave me! I have 9 children!
