| 1 comments | Link 2008-Jul-23HS eventA fellow HSler hosted a 'playdate'. WHAT HOOT! Those ladies are a riot! Joey was a bit of a pill, but I guess he got over it. I don't know if he's missing Mat or what. And next week (when I host), one lady is bringing me kombucha 'scobies'?? The starts!LOL I learned of a few other things as well--where I can get raw milk (to make kefir), different butchers, etc. And another lady is bringing me more goat's milk soap! She also makes and sells goat milk cheese and makes some dip that she's supposed to bring next week. The ladies who had it were raving about it! Probably the funniest thing was that there were 2 ladies there and they both looked familiar. I'm pretty sure that one is DH's customer. I met her at one other HS event. I think we might have scared her off this time tho.........LOL I heard the other one mention horseman's name, but it wasn't clicking so I figured that I had just seen her there at one time or another. So she asks me if I am 'the one'. I said, I don't know, but you mentioned horseman's name and I live on his road so I"m going to guess yes!ROTFL! Turns out she's the lady who stopped by in the dead of winter once and Dh had the quilt nailed to the front door and I had to talk to her while I was stooped over thru the screen in my bedroom window (the porch runs along there)!ROTFL! So we had a lovely chuckle about how DH winterizes the inside of hte house......:) | 1 comments | Link Tuesday, July 22, 2008vertigo and electrolytes, help if you canHi. do you ever feel like you are the top of a very high building (think Empire State) when the wind is blowing. the world is gently swaying, but not enough to make you sick. that is my constant state of being right now. I am not sure the exact cause, but if you have any thoughts on my thoughts, I would love to hear them. Oh, and this has been going on since at least Sunday, maybe earlier.... given: I am pregnant, and in that awful first trimester, the one where I wonder "WHY did I want this again. NEVER AGAIN! agh! will given: I have normally low blood pressure. no, I am not sure of my normal, but I know it is low enough the nurses always comment on it. I also cannot give blood - they start pumping, and I fill about half a bag, then it just stops. seriously. my midwife often has to poke me in two different spots to get all the prego blood tests (about 4 vials) full. It runs in the family (my grandmother was prescribed potato chips by her doctor to bring up hers) given: I get very anemic while pregnant. I am taking 25 mg of iron biglycerate twice a day, and my main iron-deficient symptoms (exhausted-tired-like-I-cannot-move, shaking, etc.) are not in evidence. this is the very type of iron I have taken in my two previous pregnancies and it has raised my iron levels to manageable levels. I like it. (I did have to try like 6 brands/ types before I found one that did NOT make me sick.) other possible factors: I am still nursing my 22-mo. would that contribute? it is kind of warm here, but I am not even breaking a sweat. I am nauseated a lot of the time, but I have not actually thrown up (yet). thanks, I think in large degree to the liberal use of nasty, pasty, chalky ginger tablets. but they do work. even if the chewing and tasting seem to aggravate the sensation for a bit. my ears do not hurt - so and ear infection is not a culprite, is it? if you have any suggestions, oh wise ones, I would like to hear it. if you have any recipies for elctrolyte drinks, I would love those as well. The gaterade, etc. is so full of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) that I am afraid I will have a reaction to that since we have it so very rarely and in small doses. meanwhile, I am here, atop my own personal skyscrapper. I am trying to enjoy the view. and the swaying while sitting still. | 3 comments | Link 2008-Jul-22headaches.......Well I wound up just not feeling well today. I know this is all weather related, but it seems to be getting worse the older I get?!?!?! Plus I think I'm getting SICK!!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!! At any rate, I made the chicken salad--just mixed up some chicken, mayo, celery, pecans adn honey. I also have the stock done. I think the only thing left is to get Mat's history/geography on the computer for when he gets back. But that was put on hold cuz I tried to nap. Not very well since the phone kept ringing. Mat was in the basement playing quietly, which was nice. | 2 comments | Link 2008-Jul-22soreYesterday was squats and lunges and OUCH OUCH OUCH! Naturally, today was MORE squats and lunges. At least I won't be as sore tomorrow. I have mopped, vacuumed, dusted, cleaned the bathrooms, have laundry caught up, chicken stock is boiling and Joey's school is done. I was pretty impressed. I sent Joey to the garden to get me an onion and he did! I truly wasn't sure WHAT he'd bring back!ROTFL! I was going to make chicken enchiladas for tonight's supper, but I don't have any flour tortillas! I know I could make them, but I gave the noodle maker back to my mom and that's how I flattened them. So I'm going to ask DH to pick some up adn we'll have that tomorrow night. We'll have chicken salad tonight and I'll make that this afternoon. | 0 comments | Link 2008-Jul-21MondayJoey and I didn't do much today. I did some laundry and we went to the summer reading program and then to the 4H fair. I have a chicken in the CP. I had to let it thaw and cram it in there!LOL These things are HUGE! But I'm making stock tomorrow and chicken salad at some point since Mat doesn't like it. He's not here to complain about it!LOL And I'll make chicken spinach alfredo for lunch one day. OH YUM! | 0 comments | Link Sunday, July 20, 2008anxious for fallI cannot wait till fall. I never can. I love fall and winter - those are my favorites, except last winter when I was anxious for spring so I could plant my garden. that is dead. sigh. I have given up on my garden. between the grasshoppers, the dog, and the landscaper guy (who told me they would be starting"next week" and I needed to move my garden boxes so they could get in the big earth movers - THREE WEEKS AGO! - and he hasn't even started yet), my garden is dead. I might get some potatoes - if the grasshoppers let me. and the tomatoes hanging upside down will probably give a few (in fact, I have 8 or so tiny romas growing.) but the melons, pumpkins, beets, peas, etc. are hopeless cases. sigh guess I will just need to buy from the farmers market this year for my canning needs. and this year, I have an extra reason for hastening the coming of fall: my morning sickness (which is more like afternoon sickness, really) will be over. (notice the new addition to my blog?) | 3 comments | Link 2008-Jul-18combining errands....While combining errands is certainly gas and time efficient, it makes for LONG DAYS! I left at 11 and got home at 6! I went to the PO, met my mom adn sister for lunch and to swap veggies for boys (;0), off to the library for their reading program party, to goodwill, bowling, grocery, pet store and bulk food store. It's all put away. I need to update the checkbook, but we didn't spend much so I'm not super worried. I did get another killer headache and it's still hanging around. This morning before I left, I picked beets, onions and peas. I'm goign to try to sell the beets and onions and I shelled all the peas for supper. So we're having beets, peas and cheeseburgers for supper. | 1 comments | Link 2008-Jul-18Questions from Mrs. Incredible!!
