Bulk Store & Bulk Baking!

Isn't that a beautiful old fashioned stove? I know that some people are still blessed to be able to use these stoves in their homes. I LOVE old fashioned furnishings. This is just the pictures of a "Homestead" hearth to me.
I will be doing some serious baking all day tomorrow. I have been baking all of our cakes, muffins, cookies and the such to be stored in the freezer for future consumption. I last did this 2 weeks ago and we are fast running out of these goodies.
I also need to go to a Bulk store that is run by a Mennonite family, to purchase some flour and buttermilk. I have used the unbleached flour that you can buy at the regular grocery stores, as well as buttermilk. It doesn't compare to what the bulk store carries.
This store is a little over an hour away from where I live. It's a long drive, but I treasure the scenery and the solitude that it allows me when I go. There are a lot of farms out there as well. I have told my hubby that if we ever moved to another county, it would have to be this one.
Most people don't like the area because it has a lot of large operated hog farms. Trust me, I live too close right now to a paper mill that has the "WORST" stench around before a good rain. At least the scenery would be better.
Once I get the buttermilk, I will also be able to try a recipe that is posted on blessedmomof10. It's called Buttermilk Drop Doughnuts. It looks so yummy on her blog. I would never had thought to use buttermilk in a doughnut recipe. Thinking on it now, I bet the buttermilk adds a unique flavor to them!
Have a blessed weekend in The Lord! Bless all who pass this way!
