Thinking back to when I was a child and all the family I had around me. Running and playing without a care in the world. Fighting with my cousins over crazy childish things and my aunts or grandma coming to break it up. Getting angry when I got in trouble and even being mean at times. And as I grew into a woman, those that helped all along the way in some form or another still there for me. In my own innocent ignorance I never thought there would be a time when they would not be there. As the years have passed many have went on to be with our father in Heaven. I miss them terriably. When I close my eyes I can see their faces and smiles, something I took for granted when they were still here. Neglecting to visit with them,oh how I regret that. Oh how stupid we are when we are young! Clara (Tootle) got her wings July 2000 Irene - got her wings May 2007 Leona (Sissy) got her wings June 2007 |

my Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation my husband for being a rock I can depend on my children for being such a blessing in my life my parents for setting forth a firm Christian foundation of which to live my life the sun for warming the earth the cool breeze on a hot summer day the birds that sing their praises to our savior each morning the harvest that comes after patiently working the feilds that I am open and willing to learn with the guidance of the Lord the morning dew that kisses the flowers that little bit of quiet time I get each morning to be with the Lord before my day starts never feeling alone even if I am alone my church family all the simple things that may go unseen but touch me so,like the kiss I get each morning from my loving husband, the hugs I get as my daughter wakes up with a smile on her face saying "Good morning Mommy",that my sons still hug me and tell me they love and good night each night, that my grandmother still calls to talk with me,that I know I am blessed beyond belief even though it may not be in money or possessions it's in roots and love. God is good and I love him so very dearly and couldn't even begin to imagine my life without him in it. God Bless, Tammy |

My husband was talking with our neighbor and he asked my husband "Do you guys need a dryer, cause I have one and you can have it?" My husband looks at him and says "No, We have one." He replies "Then I don't get it?" My husband says "Get what?" He answered " Why does she keep hanging clothes out on the line then?" My husband answered with a grin on his face "Oh well she just really likes doing that and it keeps our costs down some." He looked at my husband kind of bewildered and says "oh" Men they say the darndest things!!!! God Bless, Tammy |

February 14 is right around the corner. What are you going to do? I'm not sure what we are going to do, maybe dinner out, I'm really not sure,it depends on what the budget looks like that week. If we can't go out I'm going to make us a little something and set it up with candles and such things I know he likes, like chocolate cake and stawberries and chocolate, and just spend the evening together. Either way it will be nice just spending time together. |

I'm doing this with Carissa. We are making our own place mats for the table. I just got some construction paper and let her pick what ever color she wanted, then we got out the old newpaper and spread it over the table and set out the kids' paint. And I let her go to town what ever she wanted to do on her mat. After she was done and it dries we will prep it with the plastic covering stuff,I'm sorry my mind is going blank right now. She will then have her own art work to eat on!!!!!

Another cute reading from my inbox.
Mean Moms
Someday when my children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent, I will tell them, as my Mean Mom told me: I loved you enough . . . to ask where you were going, with whom, and what time you would be home.
I loved you enough to be silent and let you discover that your new best friend was a creep.
I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your room, a job that should have taken 15 minutes.
I loved you enough to let you see anger, disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their parents aren't perfect.
I loved you enough to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even when the penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart. But most of all, I loved you enough . . . to say NO when I knew you would hate me for it.
Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won, too.
And someday when your children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates parents, you will tell them.
Was your Mom mean? I know mine was. We had the meanest mother in the whole world! While other kids ate candy for breakfast, we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast. When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches.
And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was different from what other kids had, too.
Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times. You'd think we were convicts in a prison. She had to know who our friends were, and what we were doing with them. She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less.
We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to break the Child Labor Laws by making us work. We had to wash the dishes, make the bed , and learn to cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, and empty the trash and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think she would lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do.
She always insisted on us telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. By the time we were teenagers; she could read our minds and had eyes in the back of her head. Then, life was really tough!
Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn when they drove up. They had to come up to the door so she could meet them. While everyone else could date when they were 12 or 13, we had to wait until we were 16.
Because of our mother we missed out on lots of things other kids experienced. None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's property or ever arrested for any crime. It was all her fault.
Now that we have left home, we are all educated, honest adults. We are doing our best to be mean parents just like Mom was.
I think that is what's wrong with the world today. It just doesn't have enough mean moms! |

Over the weekend I watched the movie Monalisa Smiles. The movie is based in the 50's at a ladies college, where they taught women to be homemakers as well as other things. There was a teacher there that pushed for women to go another path and work outside the home. She believe that women could do both,be a homemaker and care for her family as well as be a professional woman. But society in those days shunned professional women believing a woman's place is in the home.
Fast forward 2006.....
Now it seems to be the other end of the spectrum. Yes we now have many choices that we didn't have in the past. Why does it feel like we are fighting to have our rights to be in the home not looked at as mundane or foolish. When your in a crowd of women and asked what you do for a living and you say your homemaker or stay at home mom,why do you get the reply "Oh". Then the conversation is promptly stopped and moved to another subject.
So if in the 50's women fought to be able to have choices and respect of them. Whether they wished to work outside the home or stay in the home caring for her family,it was her choice to make. Now we have those choices but the homemaker is looked down on.
So my question is Just how far have we really come in this respect as women?

As most of you know well those that read my blog,I'm cleaning a rental that was totally trashed and disrespected. Well most of the windows have crayons all over them. I am having a difficult time getting it off with Windex. Does anyone know of something I can use that is not expensive but will work well? I am going to try straight vinegar and see how it works today.

I have noticed that there are several houses that already have their Christmas decor up. In my opinion I think that's to soon. I am one for celebrating the holiday at hand and that being Thanksgiving. We will be starting our decorating the first of December.
When do you start yours?
