It's still quiet in the house this morning, Carissa is watching some preschool toons,Jason is still sleeping, Brandon is at a friends,and John is still sleeping.  So I thought I would take advantage of the quiet and post about my day.

Oh when we got home yesterday John said there's a rabbit in the garden. So I ran up the field and spontaneously threw my hands up in the air waving my arms like a wild woman growling at it.  I scared it really bad and it ran and kept bouncing off the fencing. I kept doing my wild woman act,really I don't know why because it didn't nothing but scare it. So John got a hold of it and we (he) killed it.  I was thinking of keeping it for the freezer but it's so small so we threw it away.  As we walked to the house I looked at him and teased him by saying you savage!  He replied let that be a lesson to the rest of them.

Good day to you all!!! Oh I'm just loving this awesome weather we are having right now.  Sunny,not to hot,nice mild wind blowing,picture perfect! 

I got the rest of the garden weeded and John and I staked the tomatoes.  I normally don't wait this long and when I got down there they were laying on the ground. OH NO!  But now they are up and tied to stakes and all is good.

Today we (the kiddos and I) got the house cleaned up. I got 5 loads of laundry washed and hung out to dry.  Made 2 loaves of bread and am about to go start dinner as soon as I get through on here. Jason and Brandon had to have one of their fighting fits today, as with any day. So I put them to work. My thinking is that if they have the time to sit and fight they must be bored so I find things for them to do.  Jason had to wash the siding and Brandon is room (disaster 101), needless to say they have gotten along great the rest of the day.

John is working days this week, I like this shift much better than the other two but they come with the job.  So there's no choice there. Oh well at least I can make sure the house looks nice and he's got something good to eat when he's home. 

Well I'm going to head on out of here and get dinner on.

WE GOT RAIN!!!  Doing a happy dance!!!  Ok so it was not all that good,we had a tiny tornado touch down a few counties West of us and we had several trees down and some minor damage from winds and several very heavy down pours. But we are having some light rains as well. Right now it's gray and damp out something it hasnt been in some time.

Yesterday was hot and muggy but  I did get a portion of the larger veggie garden weeded before the humidity got to me to bad.  Then later Jason and I went and picked some black berries. The deer have aleady done a number on them and they are so small b/c of lack of rain but they were still delicious!  We brought them in and I washed them off and we had them with dinner last night as a treat.

I also made some more bread. I really didn't want to b/c of the heat but I had to we are completely out.  Now I should be ok for a few days anyway.

Today we are planning on putting new plug and wires on the van. LOL I have to chuckle a little right there with what I typed,We are, when it's really John is. I know very little about the working under the hood and how to fix them.  While he's doing that I may work in the garden some more if it's not raining. Oh I need to get the tomato plants staked this weekend as well.

Good morning ya'll!  Wow it's gotten nasty out,more heat,more humid,just all around icky!  John is working nights all this week which puts my whole schedule in a tail spin but it's only a week. He came home this morning and didn't go to bed,he said the van was acting up and that he was not sure if he would make it home,Thank God he did because he didn't take the cell phone so he would have been stuck. He put it on the computer and it's an easy fix,but we have to wait until this weekend when he has more time and money to fix it. I hope he gets it done fast as I need to get to the green house to get some compost mulch to put in the garden.

I have been reading alot of blogs and I feel like I have nothing of value to share with you all.  Just my mundane day to day life that has to get boring to read,even though it's a blessing for me.  I thank those that take the time to read even if my blog is not packed full of useful tidbits for the homesteader and/or homekeeper. Thanks!

Well I have to go I do believe the washer has stopped and I have to get them hung on the lines.

Not to much going on here.  John is working nights this week so of course my whole routine is flipped upside down.  This is the first time he's had to work nights so it's a huge adjustment for us all. I didn't sleep much at all last night,after all the years of having him right beside me it's hard to get use to him not being there. So I tossed and turned and kept getting up to check on things.  It's not any easier that he has to work 12 hour shifts right now,so it's like he's working and comes home sleeps and then goes back to work.  He thought they were going to go to 8 hour shifts starting this week but the big boss changed his mind, the money is good but I do miss him.

Good afternoon everyone!!!  The sun is out and it's much cooler than a few days ago, I have clothes drying on the line now and we just finished up lunch.  Well Carissa and I did,we are the only ones home right now.  Jason is working for an older man just down the road,working in his yard,he has a boy from our church helping him out,Brandon is at a friends house ,also from our church,playing for the day. So that left Carissa and I to tend to things around the house.  It's so quiet here right now.  I worked on the throw I'm doing for the living room,not to much more and I wil be finished with it.  I went Friday evening to get some more yarn and they don't have the color I need any longer so I just picked another, yes it's different but hey it's unique so why not!!!!  Then I picked up 3 1 lb rolls of yarn at the craft store for a pretty good price,so I'm all ready for the next project. 

The garden is still doing well,I do believe that at least one of the cabbage plants we planted just may have a chance. The green beans started getting nibbled on b/c they are at the edge of the fencing we put up,but the tomatoes are looking so good,the peppers are holding on,I've never had much luck with peppers and I'm praying they do well this year,the cucumbers are growing quickly and the canteloupe and watermelon are as well so all in all I'm pretty happy with how it's turning out this year. Thank you Lord!

The Lord is working on me alot lately. To take out the stuff in my life that shouldn't be there.   I have went through all of my clothing or at least I think I have and gotten rid of all things that I are not appropriate,still I feel there is more to do, I will just let the Lord lead me.  I was joking with John last night and said we should move and convert to be Amish.  He wants to take me to Pa one day to visit,I'm all for that!!! 

Oh I forget to mention the strawberries, Jason and I planted 6 plants in petemoss hanging basket,well we have already enjoyed some very delicious strawberries and have buried several runners and I do believe we are going to have to transplant them into a bigger plot.  I am so excited about this!!!!

Well that's about it on my end of the world for now!!!

Good morning everyone.  Well I'm so happy to say that I got another morning like yesterday,just me and my Lord Jesus,I tell you if I don't get my devotions in I feel a step behind all day. 

I have most of my shopping list made up and some of my menu,I'm putting in breakfast and lunch since the kiddos seem to be eating more than usual and going through milk quickly.  I'm up  to 4 gallons a week and seems to be going to five now.  I do believe they are storing up for a growth spurt!

John came home after working 12 hours yesterday and said that there is an opening for a position in the plant that he's been aske to bid on. If he doesn't b/c he's new he could be forced into something no one wants there b/c of the chemicles and stuff that must be dealt with. The bad thing with it is that it's 3 shift and he will change shifts weekly. Soooooo that will for sure take some getting use to. He has until Tuesday to decide and if he does bid on it,it doesn't mean he will get it,it's in the Lord hands as it should be.

The garden is doing very well, I have lost all of the gabage but one and it's holding on for dear life. LOL  The tomatoes are looking stronger and bigger everyday and I have blooms on one of the plants,the cucumbers and popping up quickly and the beans the same,the watermelon and cantaloupe are growing well,oh and the peppers are all holding on and growing,I'm so excited about it b/c I have never had any luck with peppers. I have prayed for the garden to do well and give a bounty this year.

I need to make some more cookies but that's it for the baking but I'm thinking of maybe cinnamon rolls instead of cookies this time. I don't know yet. I'm going to head off here and get to work,I hope you all have a great and blessed day on your homesteads.

Good morning everyone!!!  I took some much needed time this morning to be with my savior and just have a nice talk with him. There's nothing that makes you feel better than spending some one on one with your father. I have been feeling burdened lately and just asked for guidance.

Yeah I got it done,I got the bread made yesterday and some dinner rolls. And I did 3 extra large loads of laundry and hung them all out to dry,got them folded and put away and the house cleaned up,then took Carissa to gymnastics and the boys to youth for drama practice and youth service at church.  I was dog tired when I got home,I made dinner then went to bed not long after.  Jason cleaned the kitchen for me.  Oh and I worked on the throw I'm doing for the living room,now I need to get more yarn. So that will be on the shopping list for the weekend. UGH!  Did I mention I really hate going out anymore!? 

Today well of course there's more laundry and now the temps are going up,up,and up from the mid 70's with the sun out bright and a nice cool breeze blowing to the mid 90's with the sun out bright and humidity in the air. Oh well we will just hunker down with the shade drawn and the doors shut and fans on like before.  But that means more watering the garden. I am thinking of getting a couple of those large tote things with the handles on them and put them down at the garden so that when it rains they will fill up with them and I can use that to water the plants with on non rain days.  My grandma use to keep a barrell to hold rain water in for that purpose instead of drawling from the well (yes I said drawl b/c that's what we did with a hand crank it was real work getting that water to her daily,mostly my uncles did it but with me being a bit of a tom boy I tried it a few times )  I remember that thing seemed to always be full,I can still remember the smell of the rain water in that thing. LOL It's funny the things you remember. Then just basic cleaning,not going to get into the much of anything today I think I'm going to just do the up keep and take it easy some. The boys go with youth group tomorrow night on road trip to see a concert so they will be gone all evening and I'm hoping hime before to late.  John wants to take me out to dinner,he came home yesterday and said he wants to take me out to relax some b/c I've been stressed and really working hard at home. Silly man,I love him so much,I like working hard to take care of him and the kids it's my calling and I feel fullfilled when I'm doing God's work. But hey if he wants to take me out by all means please do!!!

Good morning everyone!!! I looked out my kitchen window to the world outside and it's foggy looking out there. We got some more rain yesterday evening and then last night I was relaxing to doze of the sleep and I heard a gush,I jumped up and ran to the window and peeked outside and it was pouring rain down. So I toddled back to bed to drift off to sleep with the sounds of the rain dancing on our tin roof.

I still didn't get the bread made yesterday, yes I know I know,what am I doing!!!  Well I got so busy moving things around and making more stage space for bulk foods that I ran out of time. Jason and I converted a coat closet that we really don't use into a bulk storage closet.  Needless to say now I have a couple more bags to take to charity.  We were planning on take that closet out anyway to make a bigger pantry.  Where we have the pantry at right now it's way to small,soooo we were going to knock out the wall that goes into the now bulk storage closet and covert that whole area into a walk in pantry,that will be nice. But until then I now have nothing laying on the floors against the walls and that is a wonderful feeling!!!! And while I was at it I reorganized the pots and pans,now they look nice and neat just how I like them.

I promised Carissa yesterday evening that we would go for a walk just she and I. So after that I'm coming in to make bread for sure today!!!  I also have some laundry to do and basic day to day cleaning,and since I knocked out alot of the kitchen yesterday there's just a few things that I need to do in there today!!!!

Good morning everyone.  I snuck out to my swing this morning for prayer and devotions and wow,it was down right chilly out there. The wind is picking up and I looked up to the Heavens and there are several very large black spooky looking clouds covering the area. It looks like rain if not a doozy of a thunder storm.

I didn't get my bread made yesterday but I did get 10 dozen of chocolate chip pecan cookies made and 27 buttermilk biscuits so I'm planning on making the bread this morning.

Have you ever felt lost like you just don't know what you are doing but doing a good job a winging it? I have been feeling like that lately, there's so much I don't know yet and so much I want to learn or at least have a good idea of the basics before we get our farm. Things like making soap,candles,fermenting foods,ect.  I know alot about nutritions and yet I know not enough. I am going to get Nourishing Nutrition but is it confusing or anything like that? I want to do what is best for my family and I know that feeding them high quality nutritional foods is part of that.  I pushing along but sometimes I feel like I'm going upstream in a boat with out a motor.
