Garden Entry

Posted in Garden Adventures

Well Jason and I worked in the garden for a while this morning, did some weeding although I must say that there really wasn't much in the way of weeds, I guess it's because it's been so dry lately. One discouraging thing We planted a row of bush green beans too close to the fence and something at most of them, but while in the garage I found 1 1/2 packages of beans sooooo I went ahead and planted them this morning. I know it's late in the season but I'm going to give it a shot.  I didn't plant them very deep so we will see how this goes.  In total there is 2 1/2 rows of bush beans and one of pole beans.

Then Brandon and I cleaned out a flower garden that we have by the house and dug it up and planted lettuce in there. This way I can keep  a close eye on them.

The strawberries are doing so wonderful,I'm tempted to transplant them into another flower garden we have here by the house, but I'm not sure if I'm going to do that yet.

The tomatoes are growing strong and we have a few more blooms on them, the cabbage I was surprised when I was down working around them because the plants that I thought we long gone are making a come back. They now have new leaves growing on them,TTL. The banana and bell peppers are still holding their own, I'm really hoping for peppers this year as I have never had any kind of luck with bell peppers, banana peppers yes but bell nope. It would be such a blessing to have a great pepper harvest this year.  The watermelon and cantaloupe are growing very well although no blooms yet but there's still time.  And finally the cucumbers are doing great, right now it looks like we are in for a really good cucumber harvest.

Oh and I didn't plant corn this year, not for lack of willingness but for lack of room.  There is always next year for that.

I'm going to try to post frequent updates on our gardens this year. Maybe I can use them as a guide for next year as to what to do and what not to do again!!!

God Bless,
Tammy

Whew! Yall have been busy today! You and I have a lot of the same things in our gardens. Like you I have the toughest time with bellpeppers. I did hear recently though to plant them where they'll be shoulder to shoulder. I look forward to your updates. Any pictures to share? : )
