Decorating?

Posted in Random Thoughts

I have noticed that there are several houses that already have their Christmas decor up. In my opinion I think that's to soon. I am one for celebrating the holiday at hand and that being Thanksgiving.  We will be starting our decorating the first of December.

When do you start yours?

God Bless,

Tammy

This year, with Grandma coming down for a visit(her first one here) we will be having a combined Thanksgivng and Christmas with her....so the tree is already up. She likes Christamas trees ;o)
Typically, when we do a tree, it's not cut until the 2nd week of December. So far down here, though, we haven't been doing a tree. We are hoping to get away from that tradition (I'm all northern....there is just something not right to me about using a cyprus or cedar for a Christmas tree, kwim?)
We have a collection of Nativity sets, but they are out all year long in the china cabinet.

We have a family tradition from when I was a child that after the Thanksgiving meal, we turn on our christmas music and put up our decorations. Since we have always get a real tree, we usually don't put it up till the 1st or 2nd week in December! I love fall, and don't like to rush the Thanksgiving time, but as soon as Thanksgiving is over, I am anxious to begin winter, and getting on to Christmas time. I love love love Christmas, and want to do everything I can to make it memorable for our family...so much to do so little time. I always have to remind myself to slow down with the activities and focus on the real meaning of Christmas! Sorry, off on a tangent!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, we have a few around here that put their decorations up on 1st November!!! Much too early!
We plan to put ours up on December 1st when we decorate the tree, light a cosy fire, drink hot chocolate and watch a Christmas movie with the kids!
I can't wait!
