Goin Mexicana

Well time has drawn nearer to when the girls and I will be camping out with our Girl Scout troop. Ok well, actually camping IN cause we will be in cabins, but I spent some time last night making a few things to decorate the cabin with. I made these two guys to hang on one wall.. Then I made this cactus and have a mexican jumping bean and a Taco man in the making for another wall.  Destiny also drew and painted this guy to put on the third wall.... Now I am just going to make some little mexican paper dolls for the door and some poncho's to hang from the bed posts and we will be done.

I can't wait to get it all hung and start with all the fun.

44 and still kickin

Well not that today is much different than any other but my children and my friends blessed me. I turned 44 today and here is what we did.... here is a cake made from scratch..... Thank you Destiny and Josh Here is the card they made for me (yes that is me in the center of the 100 dollar bill) thank you Mariah, Destiny, and Josh. These are the two e-cards I received from my dearest friend. I just had to draw them to preserve them in my memory. (Thank you Laurie)

I love you all very much thank you for making my Birthday a special day.

I went for a walk today

For some that may not seem like a big deal but thanks to my health lately it has been a struggle for me to walk from one room to the other inside the house.

Well I have been staring at these daisies and black eyed susans long enough. I was determined to go out and pick them. Soooo I grabbed my little flower basket (and my inhaler) and put on my shoes and went outside. When I reached the flowers, to my dismay, they were all wiltted and covered in bugs and surrounded by thorny bushes.  So instead of picking them I decided to photograph them. Here is what I came up with..

I added the frame to this one using photobucket. Here are some blackberries almost ready for the pickin.  more lil wild flowersthen I spied the brightest lil red lady bug I have ever seen. She was BIG and Bright! Then there were these homey looking beetles flying EVERYWHERE. Ewwwww Well that was the extent of my walk. A short one but a walk none the less. Thank you Lord for giving me the strength to enjoy your creation today. I pray that you will continue to make me stronger and stronger each day.

Girl Scout Camp out

My girls and I are going for an overnight camp out with our Girl Scout troop this weekend and the theme for camp is Mexican Fiesta. We have to decorate our Cabins to go with the theme. I thought, along with the paper mache' cactus and chili red peppers I would go ahead and make these posters for the walls. I started with this little guy... Just to try something new (again) I drew him in my sketchbook and then cut out the sombrero and the rug area and put printed texture designs behind it giving it like a three d effect. Not the greatest turn out but something new none the less. I am now working on a little girl using the same technique.

Please feel free to comment, criticize, make suggestions.

Simple Woman's day book

Outside my window ~ The sun is shinning and I can see my son swinging in the oak tree (on a swing, not like a monkey) hehee

I am thinking ~ wondering how in the world I got myself where I am. My dh isn't happy and I don't know how to help that. I have failed and it hurts.

I am thankful for ~  for my husband although I can't seem to do right by him, my children whom I have not done right by.

I am creating ~ wooden bird houses for the shop, hoping they will sell

From the kitchen ~ I can smell the makings of dinner. We are having hamburgers and beans with cukes and tomatoes.

I am going ~ in sane trying to figure out where life went wrong.

I am reading ~ Keepsake Crimes by Laura Childs. I just got it from the paperback swap.

I am hoping ~ that I will find a way to bring peace into our home and to get back into a routine.

I am hearing ~ the very annoying sound of my dog bark and bark at absolutely nothing.

Around the house ~ we have managed to reach the bottom of the laundry pile, and empty a few overloaded totes in my room.

One of my favorite things ~creating things, painting gourds and drawing.

A few plans for the rest of the week ... ~ I need to get with my co-partner and make some paper mache' cactus' for our Girl Scout camp this weekend. I also hope to spend some time outdoors with the horses.

Illustration Friday ~ Fog

Gee I actually got done before the week was up. I guess I will have to put some color to this then. For now here is what I have....

seeing the FOG roll in Chip knew he had to get home in a hurry.

This was a great topic for me today as I feel like I am walking around wishing I could disappear in the fog! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday, don't forget to stop and enjoy the Lord's creation. Push through the FOG and find joy!

Illustration Friday ~ Sour

This was last weeks topic for IF was SOUR...

Once JW Warrior saw the look on the fishes face he realized he must have put the Sour Sqwiggle gummy worms on the hook instead of the normal fish bait.

This was a fun challenge for me but it took me the WHOLE WEEK to get it done. Tell me whattcha think!
