A portrait attempt
I have been tackling faces for some time now thus my Tackle It Tuesday, My 16 year old daughter has sunflower shapes in her eyes, we have been trying to capture them on camera but with no success. So I decided to try and draw a portrait of her from memory (she was asleep and I didn't want to wake her with my wee morning rantings.) I didn't blend the eyes like I picture them in my mind but I am going to work on it until I get it right.
Here is what I ended up with....

Where did the week go.
Seems like yesterday I was packin up to go on my wacky women's weekend with Laurie and here it is a week later. WHEW!!
I have been having so much fun doodling and painting and creating that the time is just flying by. I have sent out 10 self-illustrated recipe cards that I will post as soon as I know everyone got theirs hehe I don't want to give them away or anything.
Then I sent off my first set of ATC's (artist trading cards) and those I can show....
My partner likes houses and the colors pink and green. She also likes to quilt so I created this one as well...
I am just starting out with these and I am sure I will get the hang of things soon but for a first. .. they will do.
I hope you all are enjoying the weekend, have fun with your family and say hello to your friends.

Romping about this past weekend
Well, I have told you of our Watercolor class, now I will share Sunday with you. I missed the morning Sunrise... must have needed some sleep, but I bet it was the promise of a beautiful day!
WE decided to hit the town and see what we could see. The Mint Museum
sounded good to us. We of course had to pose and make our MYSPACE FACES!!!
After stopping at Olive Garden for a Birthday Brunch (Thanks again dear friend)
Oh yeah... our MYSPACE FACES again..... we headed out of town and into the Mint Museum.
This is taken from the upstairs platform looking out over the front lawn. The museum was a lot of fun. There were several nice Exhibits. we stopped to sketch a few things and read about all the information...
I did a few more but need to fill in the information on them though. Like the FAT DOG... heheh he was too cute. Then there was a small 'paint set' that I drew but need to color in. It was a really neat place and I enjoyed it a lot. There were even a few of Norman Rockwell drawings too. He's one of my Fav's!!
After the Museum we hit up Walmart and then went back to the hotel. We made another Tea Bloom
This one is Heavenly Bloom. Isn't it pretty. We tried to call it a night early so that we could get Laurie to the airport on time even though I tried really hard to miss her flight.
I know we will meet up again next year but still saying by is something I don't like to do.
You know when you have a friendship made in heaven when you haven't seen eachother for nine years and feel as though you never moved away!!!
Until we see eachother again friend......

head out of town and my first watercolor class
I was so excited about going out of town and meeting my dearest friend Laurie so we took some extra time and cleaned the car out real good and checked all the things that need checkin. My DH even took it to the car wash and shampoo'd the carpet in it for me.
isn't he sweet!! Needless to say the car was all cleaned out and empty but only long enough for me to get it home and LOAD IT UP!!!
I wanted to bring a fruit basket for those midnight munchies, some crafts to work on while I was waiting for Laurie to arrive, the picnic basket in case we went to the gardens to doodle we can picnic there too. I brought a small cooler full of ice (gotta have my ice ya know) and then I brought along the Blooming tea bulbs I bought months ago just for this occasion. When I arrived at the hotel I had a couple hours before Laurie would arrive so I decided to take some pictures of the room. I was so excited to see that there were Girafees framed on the walls (Laurie loves Girafees)
Then I set up the fruit basket..
I had never seen donut peaches before, so when I saw them at the Farmers Market I just had to get some. Man were they delicious. (the kids and I ate them today hehehe) Here is the first Blooming Tea Bulb I made. It is called the Happiness Tea...
It was so pretty. It was an herbal tea and taste pretty good. I did discover that I didn't add enough water so it was a bit strong but it was good!
I think we stayed up until about 2am or so that night and just talked about things and shared things and oh yes, I had to draw my still life in preperation for the next days watercolor class. Thank goodness Laurie brought extra 300lb paper, silly me forgot the huge pack I bought to bring with me. (Thanks Laur
)
The next morning we got up and headed out to Cheap Joe's for class. The class was to start at 10am so we got a bite to eat first. We painted for about an hour
and listened closely.
This is where I was ..
Getting the right shade of the pears was really hard for me. Oh and painting silver bowls.... NOT something I am going to do often. heheh Laurie was doing such a wonderful job, I just wanted to switch paintings with her...
Here is what I ended up with after a six hour class. There is still much more to do, but Rome wasn't built in a day...
After the class was over, we had Anne sign our books (thanks again for the book Laurie, I will use it often) and then we took pictures with her.
I don't know why but I can't find the picture of Anne and me.... hummm will have to look into that
.
The class was a lot of fun, there were some sweet people there (well other than Laurie and I hehhe) and Anne is a wonderful teacher.

Time to catch up ~ 7/20
I know I have been away for a bit, not keeping up my lil bloggie as well as I would like so I am taking this evening to catch up completely.
I am going to start with July 20th. My family and I were at Foster Falls (as many of you know, this is my favorite spot to just relax and soak in God's creation) and they went out for a walk across the river
(see them there on the other side?) and I sat in my favorite spot at the edge of the river. First I started reading my Anne Abgott book since I was going to attend one of her classes that weekend. Then I found my craft wire and wire cutters in the back pack I was carrying, so I decided to try a new craft. I saw this lil guy
and he inspiried me to make something with Dragon flies. I started twisting and turning the wire and made a frame,
then added this lil guy in,
Well I just kept going n going and added another dragon fly it really was fun.
I think I will have to create a few more items like this.
Stay Tuned for more twisted wire creations.

Hello from North Carolina
I just had to drop in and tell everyone what a wonderful time I am having here in NC with my dear friend Laurie. Today we took our watercolor class and it was a blast. It was challenging for me as it was my first time painting anything like this. Yes I have painted wooden birdhouses and things like that but never designer paintings. I will be sure to post a picture of my painting when I get home.
The class was at Cheap Joe's and was supposed to be from 10am to 2pm but we were there until 4pm and then another hour or so shopping in their shop. OMG they have everything one would need for many projects. IT was a lot of fun.
Well I pray everyone is having as wonderful a weekend as I am. See you all soon.

Powerless Sketches
Due to heavy storms here last night (July 22nd) we were without power (thus the 'powerless sketches) from 10pm to 8am today, but I kept right on doodling anyway. (well until 2am that is)
I decided to work on a few challenges from a blog list I am on, and came up with this for #1
Draw your shoe. Now mind you this is just the sketch. I will be adding color to it later today.

Then for Challenge #2 draw a desk lamp I decided to do this one...
There is a lot of detail in this one but I will be adding color to it as well. Not bad for doodling in the dark huh?!!
If you would like to see my other doodles and challenges please visit www.heavenlymouseprints.blogspot.com I appreciate any comments, criticism, suggestions.

IT's the final countdown
I am getting so excited about seeing my dear friend Laurie this weekend. We will be attending Anne Abgott's "Daring Color" class together and then having the weekend to do a sketch crawl, draw in the gardens, visit art museums and so much more. (Let's see how much we can cram in a weekend hehee) Anyway, I was making my packing list and checking it twice and as I was thinking of other things to write on the list I started doodling and this is what I came up with. ..
1 Day 15 hours until I leave

Whew and Simple women's daybook
Whew I am glad that is over. Was having a little computer trouble last night (read as.. was having such a hard time staying awake while working on the computer that I pushed the wrong key and deleted the whole entry I was trying to make)
Refreshed and ready for another day I want to post what I was trying to post last night. (actually it was 3am THIS morning)

Hosted by Peggy @ The Simple Woman
Outside My Window…it is pitch black with a few stars shinning in. The moon is bright and laying like a crooked cat smile. In the distance I can here the sweet frog and cricket seranade. I know there are horses romping about graizing because I can hear the pounding of their hooves.
I am thinking…about all I need to prepare for this weekend get-a-way of mine. I am getting so excited about it. I am also thinking about how different it was today, the children were smiling and my dh was laughing. What a wonderful site!
I am thankful for…the wisdom from the Lord to be still and wait upon Him. It was His timing for things to come about as they have and I am thankful He carried me through.
From the kitchen…I can hear the crunching of Kibbles and Bits and the running paws of the kittens in their night time play.
I am wearing…an oversized T-shirt, cotton capri's and diabetic socks.
I am creating…recipe cards, ATC's (artist trading cards) and postcards to send out for the swaps I am involved in.
I am going…to have to run some errands tomorrow so that I can take care of things before I leave for the weekend. Finish cleaning the office and organizing all my art things.
I am reading…Daring Color by Anne Abgott because I will be taking one of her watercolor classes this weekend.
I am hoping…that this weekend will be a time of refreshment, encouragement, inspiration and all around fun. I mean, how could it not be, I am going to be with my best bud!
I am hearing…the pitter patter of kitten feet, the sweet frog and cricket seranade and the clicking of the keys as I type.
Around the house…I see a little improvement as far as the organization is going and WAY to many animals. heheh
One of my favorite things…MICE
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: need to finish preparing for my trip, finish organizing the office and grooming all the doggies.
Here is picture thought I am sharing…
I drew this frog and cricket seranade ATC to remind me of the sounds I am hearing tonight.
Well I hope you all have a wonderful day and hey.. if you want to see more daybooks, stop by the simple women's blog. Be Blessed!
