Blogger Friend School assignment #15 ~ Buttons
For this assignment Nancy wanted to see who's got the funniest, craziest, saddest, most creative or just best story about the family button box, button can or button jar. Well I don't know if mine is funny, crazy, sad or creative but it is my 'button' story and I'm stickin to it.
Here it goes!!! When I was younger our NANA (babysitter) had a jar of buttons that I remember seeing on a shelf. I never paid much attention to it as I was to busy learning how to crochet and 'eat my peas' but when my dh's mother passed away and then his father years later we were cleaning up their home with our three children and we came upon 'Grandma's button jar'.
The girls took note of it but my son (at the time 6 yrs old) really loved to just sit and sift his hand through them. Well just this past year we decided to bring the buttons into our home after reading (for the third time) how Ma Ingalls made a button lampshade. We decided to give it a try and use Grams buttons. Since then we have started collecting buttons of our own. We've added military buttons (from Daddy's old uniforms) thrift store buttons, buttons found at yard sales and we even picked up a 'button basket'.
I love buttons and so do my children. Someday they will have a button jar of their own and share it and the story with their children.
If you would like to join in with your button story hop on over to NANCYSNOOK and join us.
