Life without power

Ok so we've done it again. Another winter has come and we have yet to get a second form of heat for our home OR a generator to run the well pump. DUMB? Yes, it is dumb. We know that every year we are left for at least on over-night period without power.

This year, just this weekend, we were three nights without power. The temps dropped to 18 blow zero (that is -28C for my sweet Canadian friends) on Monday night and I just couldn't do it. I haven't been feeling very well with all these itchy welts and things and yes, that took me right over the edge. So my sweet DH being the wonderful provider he is took the children and I to a local hotel. We prayed for the animals and left them with many blankets and the sounds of spring on the noise maker (run off batteries) and we headed out. We sort of slept in the warmth of the hotel, ate a continental breakfast and headed home in the morning only to walk into THE HOUSE OF ICE brr it was cold in here. You can see your breath. The puppies were shivering so I piled in the bed with them and covered everyone up and got them warm while the children fed the horses and outside dogs. Then we took the inside dogs to town with us to run a few errands. They were so cute all huddled in the back of the Expo just enjoying the heat and the time with us. Well we noticed we had forgotten Chance's kennel and if we were going to leave them with a friend (in case we had to spend another night in the hotel) we would surly need his kennel. So we headed back here to the house only to find the POWER WAS RESTORED. Thank you Jesus!!

Now mind you I always thought I was born in the wrong Era and should have been a pioneer but I realized this weekend that a Pioneer I am NOT!!! I don't mind the No tv, or the No lights, or No radio. But NO HEAT Eeekkkss that is rough. So THANK YOU JESUS for the opportunity to have things like Heat, toilets (ours don't work if there is no power) and things we so take for granted. Help us to be mindful of the blessings we are surrounded by and help those that are less fortunate.

Glad your power is back on!!! You never know how much of a blessed life we really lead until something like this happens and no heat for several days. I am with you girl....I don't think I could be a pioneer woman. I like my heat and indoor toliet!!! LOL

yeah - that is also high on our list as well - a generator for the well-house. bad enough to be w/out power, but no water is a killer!

Oh Cindy, you poor thing! What a rough time you have been having lately! I am so glad you have your power back!!! We lost ours a year or so ago for a day and a half, amd it is definitely NO fun!!!

Glad to see you are o.k. though! I thought you had dropped off the face of the earth!
