Ahh the wonderful season of GIRL SCOUT COOKIES
My DD (age 14) just joined in a Junior Girl Scout troop and wouldn't it just have to be right in the middle of Cookie Season.
Now I am not one that can resist these delicious, wonderful, yummy, so not for diabetics, treats. But here I am selling them with my daughter so that she can catch up with the rest of her troop and get the goal prize she wants. We have sent an order form to work with Dad, gave one to a friend that works in an office building, taken it to church, contacted local folks through emails and we making progress.
She is so excited to be a part of a troop again. She hasn't been since she was 7 years old in and a Brownie troop. I have taken on the roll of assistant leader now for her troop and to be honest I am having fun with it too. I just love to spend time and do activities with young girls. Sharing God's love and His word with them. I have been sitting tonight thinking of wonder ways to earn their Badges and planning some activities outdoors for when the warmer weather hits. I am really looking forward to it all.
Last week they were working on their communications badge and we had a Blind Pastor come in and show the girls how he communicates using a computer, a braille writer, and how he reads magazines, stories and many other things. He told the girls of a machine he had ( a scanner) that can scan his mail and read it to him or print it off in braille so that he can read it later. It was truly amazing to see all he could do and how he finds is way in the community. He was truly an awesome inspiration to the girls.
