What I saw in the barn that day
Here is a poem I have writen to enter in Grandma Rosie's contest. It if from the viewpoint of a mouse who witnessed the birth of our Lord Jesus.
Do you remember that day
so long ago
when a child named Jesus
made the earth His home.?
I remember
I was there,
hidden in the corner
where all I could do was stare.
I saw Joseph carry Mary
and lay her down gently
She was due to give birth to a very special baby.
Papa mouse told me
"It's the Savior,
our King".
"This baby is here to save you and me".
Jesus was born on that starry night
here in our barn cave.
Mary wrapped him in clothing
and called out his name.
People started to come
from near and far
my family and I just hid there
in the barn.
We watched as they came
bringing gifts of all kinds
Gold, Frankincense, Mere
they were all fine.
My heart burst with Joy
as I began to think
"What sort of gift,
could I give our King."?
I talked to Papa mouse
and Mama mouse too
but neither of them
knew what I could do.
So off to my corner
I went to think
a gift for a King
what could it be?
I found a match the barn master
must have dropped
I picked it up and struck it hard
the flame lit up and my heart did too
I began to sing
Happy Birthday Jesus
Happy Birthday to you!!!

Hi! Thanks for dropping by my blog, Simplicity. I love the poem, and it very much reminded me of thoughts that I had shared today. What a blessing to read it, and I am sure many will feel the same.
