Mad-a-gas-car Monday and my ramblings

Ahhh another Monday of running errands. Well it wasn't the best of days as of late. I ran my errands alone today because the first place I had to go was ...... The Garage!!!  Yup, today was the day to have all new tires put on the Expo. Ohhh not that I wanted to do it but it HAD to be done. See I failed my inspection because my tires were bald.  First off I had my back breaks replaced. They were making such a racket that I knew I had better hurry. Sooooo I took it in about three weeks ago to have that done and have the inspection done and that is when they told me about the tires. So I get this rejection sticker and have 15 days to get new tires on the thing. Well, getting caught up in life that time went by all to quickly and I get pulled over at a traffic stop (they were looking for someone) and the officer noticed I had a rejection sticker and went to looking at it and noticed it had expired.  So he took it from me and gave me a summons for that and then he noticed my plates were expired. GEESH and I should have known that too!  Anyway, Now I have 10 days to get the registration done and get new tires. Well today made the 10th day.... sooo I am off to drop my car off at the tire Garage and wouldn't you know it, I get pulled over again. I explained to the officer that I was on my way to get the new tires on and have the inspection redone so he kindly let me go (and followed me to the garage ) Once I arrived at the garage I was told it was going to be about a two hour wait., (thank goodness I brought a book and some things to work on). So I walked about a block and a half down the road and found myself a seat at Macado's which is our tribute restaurant to Andy Griffith and Mayberry. I decided to get a small desert and a cold drink to pass the time. Well, my word this is what they call SMALL... Now that is what I call a Happy Hour special. hehee  Well it was just about two hours when they called me to say the car was finished. So I headed back down the block to pick it up and when I got there I see ANOTHER REJECTION STICKER..  I asked what it was for this time and they told me now the Front Brakes needed to be replaced. Now why they didn't tell me that the first time is beyond me. I hear a bit of squeaking but didn't think it was anything major. Well evidently there is a rod or something wearing unevenly and causing the bottom portion of the break pad to wear completely down to metal while the top half of the pad is still about 1/4" thick. Then they told me that one of the shocks on the front end was leaking too. GEESH what is happening to my car!!!  Well now I have until July 15th (which is my birthday of all days) to get the front brakes done and the shock replaced before this rejection sticker expires. I wonder how many times I will get pulled over between now and then. Grrrrrr

Well upon leaving the Garage I was to go to the Police Station to bring them the inspection sticker number and show my summons so that I would get out of paying the fine. WELLLLLL don't ya know that I got there 7 minutes AFTER they closed. Now I don't know if they will make me pay the full amount since I will be a day late now but with the way my luck is going.......... well, use your imagination.  So now I have to go out again tomorrow (which isn't a planned trip to town) and stop by there again.

On my way back toward the house I needed to stop at Lowe's and get the wood piece, some bolts, and wing nuts, for our next Treasure Chest Thursday and some other things we needed, like a dual plug thingy for the phone jack and some fly killer because if I don't get rid of some of these flies around here I am movin out. HEHEHEE Well I got everything I needed but it took me AN HOUR!!! Then I leave there and it wasn't long before I realized that I missed the post office too. It was closed by the time I got there. Gee don't these businesses stay open past 4PM obviously not. Sooo I headed home. Once I got here I found that my dh and children had gone to the river for a bit of fun. All is good there.

When they returned home, my dd (13) informed me that she was stepped on by her horse today while they were trying to pull the boat out of the pond. She had slipped off of him and landed sort of Indian style and he reared up and came down on her leg. So she has a wonderful bruise and scrape on her inner thigh and the pressure from his weight cause the other side of her thigh to be pushed on a rock and it bruised on that side too. What more could go wrong..????? I praise God that nothing was broken and she seemed okay just a bit sore to walk. Thennnnn she asked me to check her back cause when she touched it it hurt. So I did and welllll,,,,,, there were bruises there too. I guess there was a tree behind her when she fell and she didn't realize she hit up against it too. Bless her heart. I know her Angels were working over time today. I pray she is able to sleep well tonight and won't be sore in the morning.

Then my dd (15) went for her drivers permit test today and didn't pass so she was all upset and down on herself so I tried to lift her up and said we will study together. She has to wait FIFTEEN days before she can try again. What is it with the number 15 today?????

Well, trying to change the mood and lift spirits we decided to cook up dinner. DD (15) wanted to cook today. She made pork chops with broccoli and cheese and fries. MMMM it was good. Then I went out with dd (13) to put BRAVE up for the night and ........ well.......... can you guess...............? Yupp. She's a goner! There was fresh blood on the ramp that leads to the hen house, her light was on, and there were feathers everywhere. It had only been dark for about an hour when we went down but I guess that was to long.  So ........ no more chickens. I still have the four babies in the house but I am afraid of allowing them to grow up enough to be put outside. I feel as though I will be sentencing them to death.  I just don't know what to do. I can't put up solid metal walls around the chicken yard .... what on earth got in there before I had a chance to put her up????????? How can I make it stop?????????

So ...... no..... today wasn't a GOOD Mad-a-gas-car day but praise God it's over and tomorrow with start a new!!!

I pray you all had a wonderful day. I have no idea what my menu is for this week as I haven't even started it yet but I will and it will be good.  Be blessed ya'll.

I'll bet when your head hit the pillow last night you thanked the Lord you survived your "Manic Monday!" It's days like this, though, solving problems and handling situations that let us know that we're alive and in training for whatever else is on the way. Surely, after another few days like this one, you'll be able to handle ANYTHING that comes your way!! :-)

Like the poster with the little kitten grasping the tree branch...."Hang in there!"

Wow! What a day! When I have days like that, I wonder, "O.K. Lord, what are you trying to tell me!" At least when you get a rejection sticker, you still get to drive your car! Here in Canada, they keep your car until you get the work done!

I will be praying that things go better today. Have a blessed day!

Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - I Can Relate

Posted by Patti

Your story reminds me of a day about 4 months ago. I was in a rush (isn't it always on those days?) to get into Boise for errands and piano lessons. Well, as usual, my gas tank had been run quite low. Lower than I knew!! On a rural road with no gas stations, I ran out of gas. I was about 2 miles from the nearest gas station. I saw a boy about 20 out in his yard, and I asked him if he had a gas can. He said yes, but then he realized that I would be walking quite a way to get gas, and then I would have a full can to carry back. So, he offered to drive me. (Thank you, young man) I filled my tank and took off again. I had gone about 3 miles when, lo and behold, a flashing light behind me caught my attention. I was being pulled over!! I was speeding!! According to the officer, I was doing 47 in a 35. Yes, it was a country road, but it wasn't a 50 MPH road. Can you believe that? Running out of gas and getting pulled over for speeding all in a 20 minute time period? Who would imagine that! The officer was gracious and didn't give me a ticket, just a warning (probably because I have no traffic record).
Anyhow, your story reminded me of that.

Also, I have heard of state inspection, but have never been involved in it. I have lived in Montana, Florida, and Idaho, and none of these states have a vehicle inspection.

Happy 4th to you!
Patti
