FOR TODAY January 4th 2010

Outside My Window... It is a VERY cold morning here on the farm. Temps are only 19*.

I am thinking... how many things I want to improve on this year, how many things I need to get accomplished before the end of the week, and how badly I want my dear hubby to feel better again.

I am thankful for...  the air I breath, the Lord who comforts me, the upcoming health of my family (words of Faith), and the friends that make me smile.

From the learning room...  Today we I will be recapping our lesson plans to cover what we have missed and reschedule things so that we can get the best out of this school year.

From the kitchen... The children are beginning to prepare lunch (thank goodness I am sooo hungry). We are having a simple lunch today and hubby is still on a light diet. So it is pork n beans and hominy and for some a chef salad.

I am wearing... a black pair of cotton/spandex pants, danskin socks, my Girl Scout leader shirt and have my hair pulled back ready for a day of WORK. heehee

In my Creative art world... I am determined to sketch daily in my art books as well as my daily personal journal. I also want to finish my special GS project.

I am going...TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE as Max Laccado says.

I am reading... Stonewall Hinkleman and the Battle of Bull Run by Sam Riddleburger ...  In this well-paced time-travel novel, smart-aleck Stonewall Hinkleman is not having fun. Named for "Stonewall" Jackson, the 12-year-old spends his summers being dragged to Civil War reenactments by his enthusiastic reenactor parents. This weekend, it's the First Battle of Bull Run. However, he forgot his bugle—a key prop for a bugle boy. He finds a replacement when he meets "Tom," a curious vendor who gives him an authentic-looking instrument and warns him to be careful during the battle. On his way back to his parents, he hears another reenactor, "Senator" Dupree, ranting about how history should be different. If the South had won the war, modern America would be better off. His daughter, Ashby, and Stonewall are disgusted with Dupree's racist attitude, but move on. The next day, when Stonewall sounds the "Charge," he and Ashby find themselves at the actual battle. There, he meets his ancestor, Cyrus, and discovers that Dupree has also been transported and is attempting to reverse the outcome of the fighting. Stonewall, Cyrus, and Ashby have to stop him to prevent American history from being changed forever. Stonewall is a likable character whose attitude changes for the better in the story.  Looks like another unit study to me... hehehe

I am hoping... the Lord will bless my husband with overflowing joy, carry me through another day, bring happiness to this house, and creativity to my hands!

Around the house... We have taken the Christmas tree down, cleaned up all the decorations and are preparing to dig back into the school year.

One of my favorite things... MICE of course, days filled with sunshine, laughter, a happy husband and happy children. Notes in the mail from friends far away, and keeping in touch with my sisters....where ever they may be.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Digging deep into the word of the Lord, continuing to get organized and make this year the best I can possibly make it.

Here is picture thought I am sharing..
