Posted in Daily ramblings
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I know I did. In a way I am glad it is over, but I also wish it did not go by so fast. I love the days up to Christmas (and Yule as we celebrate both). It is so full of magic and then once the day is over, it feels normal again.

This year I made a bunch of gifts for my sisters family. I also made Matt and his Build-A-Bear monkey matching jammies. Matt picked out the fabric. It is a penguin pattern by Debbie Mum. I love her stuff and Matt loves his jammies. I have never made doll clothes before, so makign the monkey jammies was rather interesting. I bought a Cabbage Patch (I can't believe they still make patterns for these dolls) jammie pattern and made the 20" ones. The pants are a bit long, but oh well. I also forgot to cut out a hole for the monkey's tail, so I had to go back and cut the seam and sew it open to his tail could stick out.

Work is a little slower, thankfully. I don't understand how people wait until the last possible minute, then get mad at me because they have to pay extra for two day or next day shipping. Um hello? Standard shipping takes 3-10 BUISNESS days (it does not include the weekends) and it was not going to get to you in time for Christmas. Thankfully that is over with.

Hubby is still out of work. It happens every winter. He takes a layoff because it is rather slow at the concrete plant. Thing that stinks right now is that he filed for unemployment right before Thanksgiving. Normally it takes 3 weeks before we start to get a check. Hubby called the office the day after Christmas and they told him it was going to be an additional 10-12 WEEKS! We have bills to pay as well as a mortgage! He got rather irate at the person on the phone and they ended up hanging up on him. Time for some calls to our local state representative and the Governor (I hate our Governor though) and see if they can do anything about this.

My BIL got his first check a month after filing and he gave the same info as my hubby. I have no idea what is going on. All I know if all the money we have in the bank, is going to be just enough for this coming months mortgage. Then we will have nothing. My 250.00 a week covers nothing much. Food for the week and a credit card payment. But we also have our car insurance, car payment, cable, phone and another months mortgage to save up for.

I hope things work out for the best. But for now, hubby has been in a pissy mood and it is driving me nuts. Did I mention that the day after Christmas was his birthday? This is so not what he wanted to hear on his birthday that is for sure.
