Offended by a comment left to me over at my Homeschoolblogger blog ~vent~

The other day I posted about a odd bug I had seen in my yard and have gotten lots of replies and help identiflying it. I am very greatful because of that.

However, today I recieved an anonymous comment saying "How can you teach your children if you don't know that?".  

Just because I educate my children does not mean I know everything there is out there. Hell, even public and private school teachers don't know everything. I honestly had never seen this bug before so that is why I posted about it here to get some help from someone who might.

I know I shouldn't let a stupid little comment left to me rile me up so much, but I have had it. I get comments left to me alot here (homeschoolblogger) and over at Cafemom about my choice in education and faith. I am tired of letting this stuff roll off my back and say oh well. It bothers me and I am sick of it. I usually just delete the comment, but this one is staying.

To that person who left that comment to me, why are you anonymous? Afraid that a homeschool educator might be a better teacher than you? Scared that I actually might know something more than you? Or is it that your jealous of the fact that I am able to stay home and give my child a better education than his peers?

Sorry about the vent/rant post, but I really just needed to get it off my chest.

good heavens! I am sure your anonymous commenter has NEVER seen an unidentifiable bug! Take comfort in the fact that you went looking for hte answer to tell your children. And you found out some cool stuff about the bug.
Most people say - "oh, weird. should i kill it?" and then forget about it.
I am sorry you have that kind of troll. could it be someone you know?

LOL! LIike you have to be an entomologist to qualify to teach!

Sorry! It struck me as hilarious. Since when do we have to be a entomogists and all the other ologists to teach? I bet it was some kids just looking for trouble... There are people out there that just enjoy making up stuff to annoy. Those people are pretty dumb... in fact it shows how dumb they are to make that kind of comment. "Sorry, fella! but you show your ignorance by making such comments. We don't have cicadas in our part of the country! Only someone who has never been anywhere would think that everything is the same everywhere!"

I have found over at HomeSchool Blog, that a lot of the "regulars" are kids.........that really um, make it a less than desireable place to blog, and there are SO many anonymous commenter's. It's not as 'close knit' as Home STEAD blog.

People who leave comments like that are hurting on the inside.....and lash out. Some people go LOOKING for opportunities to lash out. Like, goggle search home school sites so they can spew their venom.

Pray for your 'enemies' and let it go........it's just satan trying to mess with you!! :-)

LOL Sounds like someone was having a bad day and took out their frustrations on you to make such a ludiucris comment like that on your blog!!! None of us are perfect and none of us know EVERYTHING there is to know about any one subject!!!

I don't know a thing about bugs, and don't know that I need to to homeschool my child. LMSO How funny!

Don't let any of the naysayers get to you dear. You know what you are doing is out of love for your children, a personal conviction you have decided to follow for your children, and you like many other homeschooling moms, did not make this choice lightly!!! You do what is best for your family and ignore anyone who tells you differently!!

Ahh, yes, those anonymous comments....
I get more than my fair share of them...and strangely, none of them are encouraging.
They all have some rude comment to leave. Yet, they think so little of their own comment that they don't leave a name or contact info.

It's hard....but deleting them is the easiest thing to do. And, log their ip and block them from coming back....

It's tough to not be mainstream....we homeschool as well....but what we are doing is so completely worth it...rude comments included...
