Well...the fridge is on it's way out. The freezer is cranked up to 9 just to keep things in the fridge portion (also maxed out on the control) cooler than room temp. Being an ice-aholic, this is annoying, to say the least. My ice is frozen. Stop laughing...I know ice is supposed to be frozen, but there is frozen and then there is f-r-o-z-e-n.
The list of to-do's today include blending several dozen of the 17 dozen eggs I have and getting them into the freezer. I'm thinking quantities of 4, that measured out to be about 3/4 of a cup, for each bag.
(I'm just going with a full cup). Most of my standard recipes use 4 eggs, some use other amounts, but I'll worry about that later.
And I'll be shopping for a new fridge. I suppose it was about that time anyway. The odds were moving in that direction as we figured out our fridge age here and it was 14 years old. Never had an maintenance issues with it at all...not bad for that time span I think. We clean the coils and such, but really, we were pretty neglectful of the poor thing. Funny, though...we've gone through 4 chest freezers and 3 uprights in the same time span. Nothing but trouble with them left and right, yet the ol' fridge kept chilling away.
Now I need a new one. I'm not looking for fancy add-ons or anything. Just plain and basic, nothing digital....just the biggest I can get. It takes space to keep 15 dozen eggs and several gallons of milk you know. We'll have to start looking at what's out there, I guess. Any thoughts on what brand you like? I really don't have a 'dream refrigerator' in mind.
Well, as for brands, I think they are all pretty much the same, though consumer reports gives LG some high ratings. Having done much appliance shopping in the last year, I would stay away from GE (nothing but problems) and if at all possible make sure you get a refrigerator that does not beep, buzz, or sound a continuous alarm when the door is left open longer than ten seconds. That seems to be the trend in newer models, and it is annoying when you are trying to unload your groceries, clean out the fridge, or do any number of things that require the door to be open a little longer that it would take you to just get a glass of milk. Best wishes for your appliance hunt!

I was kind of nervous about it, but I really liked my freezer-on-bottom fridge. the freezer was kind of annoying, but for fridge space, I love it! Everything was right where I could reach it all the time, the shelves were wide and easy to organize.
the annoying part of the freezer was the drawer instead of a door, and the feeling that I was burying things instead of stacking them. mine came with an ice-maker, but we did not use it (I nor dh are ice fans) I have the same burying issues with my side-by-side, which has 2 drawers instead of extra shelves.
anyway, my thoughts.
~~if I picked a dream fridge, it would be one of those bottom freezer models just because of the space in the fridge. I don't like the side-by's for the same reason...everything is in a narrow space.
Thanks for the thoughts!

No indulgences of self will can be trivial, no denial unprofitable; Heaven or Hell depends on this alone. A parent who studies to subdue it in his child works together with God in the renewing and saving of their soul. The parent who indulges it does the devil's work, makes religion impractical, salvation unattainable, and does all that in him lies to damn his child, soul and body, forever.

At Our School Desks
We are a Christian family desiring to raise our children with the primary focus of Training their Hearts!
I have no greater joy, than to hear my children walk in truth... III John 1:4
Train up the child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it... Proverbs 22:6
Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!... Deuteronomy 5:29
Our mission in life is not to go to some far-off foreign land, but to work at home and in our churches and home communities. Our goal should not be to leave behind riches and possessions, farms and homes for our children, but a priceless heritage they will cherish enough to work fervently to pass along to their children. It has been done for generations and with God's help it can still be done. In teaching our children, we are striving toward a deep understanding of who they are In Christ. I am . . . a child of God, a gift to my parents and my country. I'm a person of great value because God made me. I can . . . do all things through Christ who strengthens me. God has made me able to do everything required of me. I ought . . . to do my duty to obey God, to submit to my parents and everyone in authority over me, to be of service to others, and to keep myself healthy with proper food and rest so my body is ready to serve. I will . . . resolve to keep a watch over my thoughts and choose what's right even if it's not what I want.
