I'm back for the moment. It has been a crazy 13 months since I last posted. We have relocated to Middle Tennessee-YAY!! However there are some pros and cons. The pros: We didn't pay for the move, SW did. We really love TN. We bought a house on 3 acres. We are plugged into a really great church. CM Momma has made a bunch of new friends AND started her own CM group. I got a good pay raise. The cons: We rented for 4 months then moved again to our new house. We paid for the 2nd move. I work 15-20 hours a week more here. No bonus checks here, because the GM% stinks. I haven't made too many friends outside of work. No time to hunt, fish or see my family. I'm grateful to be here, don't get me wrong. I think God is really using this as a test of my faith. I BELIEVE God will never forsake me, so I go with it and wait with anticipation to see what He is going to do next. The kids are making friends, having fun, and are still home educated by Momma. It's a little tough right now financially, but God will take care of it. Soooooo. . .what's next? I'm hoping to get Rayman and myself into a Hunter Ed course in the next few weeks so we can try and get some deer hunting in this fall. I'm trying to make contacts and learn the area so we don't have to hunt by GPS, compass and ,map-but if we do, so be it. It will be time for us together. We're hoping to plant trees and get a garden out next Spring. We can't go too crazy, the house is in a subdivision after all. I'm still hoping for a different career path to come along, maybe music . . .? All in all, I wouldn't change anything. I'm sorry if you've visited and there hasn't been anything new. That will change, and I'll be more proactive with my posting. Until next time, God Bless You, Our Brave Soldiers Overseas, and Our Great Country, Joe I'm finally back!

Hello again, sorry it's been so long since I posted. It has been a very busy year here in NW Florida. Business has been good- that's great, right? Business has also been good and that can be bad-when it takes away from the important stuff. By important, I mean God, family, and you own quality time with just yourself. This the gospel according to a self-professe work-aholic. So--I have made the committment to work fewer hours, enjoy my family time, and indulge in my hobbies. I'll be in WV for the Labor Day weekend to scout my hunting lease I purchased with my cousin. We have talked about it for years, and we finally just did it. Bow season in WV starts the 2nd week of October, and Pete and I will camp out and hunt for 3-5 days, just he & I. Family time-gotta do it. Gun season starts the week of Thanksgiving, and the whole family will be up there then with me. I'm gonna take Rayman for sure, probably Little Man and Po-Po one day too. Family time-gotta do it. I'm adding some links for some of my gear-feel free to explore, and e-mail with any questions. I'm still learning, and I'll gladly share what little I do know. I promise this will be kept updated. Peace and Blessings to all. First TIme For Everything

OK, here goes. . . . As we enter a new year, my DW is trying to engage me in blogging. I keep telling her I know just enough about the Internet & computers to be dangerous. I much prefer safer hobbies, like my guns, archery equipment, the tractor, power tools, fishing trips 60 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico, and other harmless endeavors. Let's face it, between the 80 miles round trip to work, the 12 hour day at S-W, and trying to be a husband and father, there isn't much time for my pursuits, let alone taking on another. But I will try. I want to get more involved in my ultimate goal-getiing away from corporate America, getting our own little farm/homestead and being able to be home as close to full time as possible. That's why this blog was created. To post stories, advice, make friends, to learn and to share in the thing we call homesteading. Besides, it will make Momma happy, and we all know that old adage. So be free with your posts, nothing is really off limits, keep it relatively clean, and let's help each other. |
