~Good Morining And Great Blessing's!~
Posted By Ruth Kobrin

Good Morining And Great Blessing's! It's about 7:34am here in Ontario Canada.....I have been up sence about 6:30 with Jarred....I was hopeing to get a chance too sleep in abit today....But I guess that wasnt in the cards.

Yesterday I did up some more pickles as well as some corn and peach's, I was a litte "up-set" I thought I would of gottion alittle more out of the peache's but they were abit small to begin with I went too the farmers market and got some cherry's as well for a peach and cherry pie I am going to make next week, I allready pited them and cut them and thew them in the frezzer. Im hopeing to pick up a few more items next week too do up.

I picked on my necies birthday present yesterday, I orderd it from sears sence we dont have a car, I wasa able to go and pick it up, It's a little sea horse that play's like 8 diffrent song's and it's tummy light's up....So cute!!!....She's only going to be one so I thought it would be nice for her too sleep with sence she it abit of a fussy baby.....She has a sister that is 3 and her and my son Jarred are only 5 week's apart and she acuttly came 3 week's early so that would of been born really close too Jarred.....She is well.....Free sprited....Yes that's what I will call it :) But she's a little sweet hart....Im really proud of her though she is allready potty trained....Jarred on the other hand is not ready yet I dont think we have been haveing such a hard time with his traning....Maybe by Christmas time he will be doing abit better....Finger's crossed. I forgot too pick up some wrapping paper yesterday and I was up-set....But than I was sitting there thinking I had some mickey mouse tissue paper I saved out of a gift bag and it worked perfect, I had 2 pices so it wasnt so see-threw....So that work's good and dh wonder's why I can be such a pack rat some times....he he.

While I was doing the corn up yesterday I cut my finger....Took a little chunk out and it swelled up abit, It looks alot better today but still abit sore, But Im sure by tomarrow I wount even notice it, My own fault though I was useing a new blade and talking at the same time.

Well I'm not sure what our plans are for today, I know dh has too go too the eye doctures yet again, His sunglasse he has.....There made for him for his eye problums arnt working for him, He needs them befor he even go's out or his "good" eye is no good for him eather and they are like $500.00 glasses so he need too see what he can get done with them....I hope they can do something....Im just glad he still has his older ones too wear for right now, If not he would be traped in the house.....And I dont want that for him at all.....So fingers crossed!!

Blessings

~Ruth

Good morning!

Last night I baked a Pound Cake.  This morning, there is an Applesauce Cake in the oven.  Next comes the Chocolate Chip Cookies and 2 batches of Rice Krispie Treats (1 plain and 1 with peanut butter).  I'll make bread on Saturday.

It is cloudy and very breezey, so, I will miss the beautiful sunrise.

My prayers for those in Florida being tormented by Fay.  May God keep you safe.

Little A will be here soon and the Applesauce Cake will be done soon, too...So, I'll close for now.

Hope ya'll have a great day.

In Him,  Jill (the big sister)

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.   Psalms 23:1

Lloyd-Jones on our need for Jesus
Posted By Jo in My Faith

"Even the first man, Adam, who was made perfect in the image and likeness of God, sinned and fell; and God could not save the world by making another perfect man.  The perfect man had failed.  Not only can fallen man not save himself, perfect man cannot stand against the devil by himself.  He needs more, and more has come..." [I Am Not Ashamed: Advice To Timothy: Chapter 5: Christ Our Saviour (preached 10th May 19640, emphasis mine]

I was rather struck by this when I read it last night.  I know some Christians who who seem rather to over-emphasis doing good as the operative component of Christianity, as though by behaving well and doing the right thing one is accepted as a Christian regardless of one's faith or otherwise, and yet here it appears that even if we were to acheive the impossible and be perfect, we would still be incapable of attaining salvation unaided.  I'd never really thought about it like this before; that Adam, before the fall, was technically a perfect man - because original sin is in the world as a result of Adam's fall, therefore he can't have been inherently a sinner before that event.  And, of course, despite being perfectly made (Genesis 1:31a - God saw all that he had made, and it was very good), he was completely unable to stand against the devil's wiles.

Which all goes to make even more clear our dire need for a saviour.

The Battle of the Will

Not my will, but thine, be done.

Luke 22:42

In His sovereignty, God chose to allow each of us to have a will. Webster’s dictionary defines will as “desire; or something desired.” We all have a will, and therefore we all have desires. This is a cause of great conflict in our lives. I have a will, but so does my wife and so do my children. Are all of our wills the same? Of course not! Each member of the local church also has a will. The bishop has a will as well as the newest member and everyone else from the youngest to the oldest. Is it any wonder that there are broken friendships, marriages, partnerships, and church splits?

Let us see how the prince of this world and the Prince of Peace handled their wills. Isaiah 14 shows us how Lucifer dealt with his will. Five times he said, “I will.” Each time his will was in opposition to God’s will. So much, in fact, that he was cast out of heaven.

Matthew 26 shows how Jesus dealt with His will in a time of great distress. In verse 42, He says, “Thy will be done.”

Jesus humbled Himself and accepted God’s will instead of clinging to His own will. Because He did this, God highly exalted Him and gave Him a name which is above every name (Philippians 2:9).

Lucifer chose his own will. Jesus chose the will of His Father. Since Jesus is our perfect example, let us perfectly follow His example, push aside our will, and accept God’s will.

Terry Lester, Montezuma, GA

Where there is God’s will there is the way!

Around the House
Posted By Bates Bunkhouse News

We recently purchased an original California Ranch House. I say original, because it was hand built in 1960. There are rock walls through out the house. The rock was hand quarried off of the property it stands on. You can actually see where the rocks were hand chipped to fit within the wall and fossils in the rock that are visible.

The house as it stands is 3,000 sq ft all on one level (denoting it is a ranch home). It is a 4bd. 2ba on over 5acres in the foothills about a half hour drive from Denver Metro. It has 2 fireplaces, a ranchstyle large kitchen which includes a double oven, pantry and an 11 ft. long island. It has 2 x 6 tongue and groove pine with open beams in the ceiling. It also has cedar closets and radiant electric floor heating through out most of the house, as well as skylights. With a huge sun room off the masterbedroom and living room. I know it may sound wonderful, but there is just one little problem. It is a fixer upper and needs some work. Truly the only way we could afford something like this in this area with only the one income.

There was mold in one of the bathrooms due to leaky sinks and skylight, so we totally gutted a whole wall and ceiling so that we could expose the wood and bleach it all down, allowing weeks for it to dry out and make sure there wasn't a trace left. We have since put in new drywall, textured and painted. Put up new lights that are bronze to go with the mission/bunkhouse style. The mirror is an embosed bronze colored metal frame with a 6ft. mirror. I am still working on the tile counter top at this time and hope to have pictures once I am finished. The sink faucets will also be bronze.

We have a lot more improvements in store. We want to bring it up to date, but hold the integrity of the original California Ranch through out. As I walk through this awesome house, I often feel like I will see John Wayne standing in one of the doorways like on his movies. While I am remodeling, it feels as though he must have locked it up and left it that way for us to unlock it and start work on it. I do have a vivid imagination, but then again, the house really lends itself to that "bigger than life" feeling!

Shopping Surprises!
Posted By MrsScribbles in This And That

Every time I go to the supermarket prices seem to have gone up yet again. Here in Australia we don't have coupons. We get color catalogues either thrown into our front yards on the weekend, or in Tuesday’s paper. They tell you what the “specials” are for the week.

I went shopping today and knew that potatoes were .50 cents a pound at one of the supermarkets and I had them down to get, along with carrots that were listed in the catalogue at .50 cents a pound. That a big saving on the  prices as they are in my little town in Australia. I went to the other supermarket first to get some things and to my surprise they had potatoes at .25 cents a pound. I thought they had made a mistake. But they hadn’t! And carrots were still a little cheaper than over at the other supermarket. Carrots have usually been around $1.00-$1.30 a pound so to get them for .47 cents a pound was great. And the potatoes at that price was excellent. Now I must find a book that says “101 Ways With Potatoes and Carrots”!!!!

Thank you all!!
Posted By Victorianne

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!  Yesterday i had to go to our local builders supply place to get a plastic/metal thing to put on the inside of our screen door to keep the dog from ripping the screen out.  He is a little peek-a-poo about 8 lbs. and a year old.  Still very excitable. LOL  Maybe i will let him add a "doggy bloggy" or two :)  Anyway, while there, i went to the garden area, and i almost bought a grafted pear tree, it had 3 different kinds of pears.  But i spied aphids on it, so that saved me $25 LOL.  i love fruit trees--and i do well with some of them, too.  My little apple tree is just a spindly little thing, and it got 1 apple its first year, and 2 apples last year, and i can't wait to see what happens this year!

Well, thanks again for the comments!

Vicky

Update on This Week's Menu
Posted By Sharon in Manic Menus

I guess it doesn't matter much but it seems that every week, if I plan a menu, I will at a minimum switch things around.   Sometimes I simply remove things.  Just to update on the current status of our menu:

Sunday ~ We managed to stick to the plan.  The pizza was great!

Monday ~ I didn't feel like cooking a long time, so I canceled the chicken and made tacos instead.

Tuesday ~ I felt even worse, didn't cook at all.  It was "Fend Night".

Wednesday ~ I finally cooked that chicken :)

I've already changed the planned meal for tomorrow's dinner to Lasagna.  We'll see if I can stick to that or if I'll change my mind again :P
