Can't I Just Cry?
Posted By Miss Jocelyn Dixon

That is what I want to do anyways, but it won’t change a gosh-darn thing. Sigh.

My computer is DEAD, well not dead, but will do nothing but show the desktop background. All my files, photos, graphics, and emails are on there but there is no way to access them. I don’t know if we can take it in somewhere and get the files off the motherboard, but I sure hope so.

I am just beside myself. I just want to cry and cry and hope when I’m done my computer will be working, but I know that is not so.

Computer crashed last night… Mother Dear has been using my computer because her laptop is dead (Long story short, Best Buy is really stinky when it comes to quick, accurate customer service. I’d recommend by directly from a computer company, like Dell) and opened a site that was saying it was a hacker site, but we know the lady and she said it was a false alarm (though it said it had infected my computer). However just to be safe we went to download the Microsoft updates and it killed my computer. It downloaded, restarted, and then nothing. Just a blank desktop image.

*Runs to bed and sobs into the pillow*

I’m not sure what can be done. I know there must be a way to get the files off the motherboard. I know there must be.

This is a bigger problem than most of you probably realize. Losing my computer isn’t just losing my hobby or a toy. It’s losing my business and all my hard work. I do so much work, actual business related work, on the computer and for now it’s gone and you can’t even use the computer. I have read, on several blogs, about people taking time off their blogs, and while I think that is great, can’t just take a break from the work Jesus has called me to. I don’t view my blog as just a hobby. It’s so much more. God IS using it for His glory. I’m not sure if my time online will be limited because we are down to 2 computers in a house of 5 bloggers with 20+ sites to run between us. Right now I’m typing this up on the very poor, slow computer that would turn a young man grown before it actual loaded pages. I really just need a laptop of my own and I praying God will make a way for me to have one.

So…. if you sent me any emails within the past 24hours I did NOT get them. If you would go through your sent items and resend them, I’d be obliged. Also resend your favourite verses. Those are on there too.

And please just pray that we can get this all sorted out. Pray that Mother Dear’s laptop cord will arrive soon. Pray that we can get Windows XP Professional operating system on this crappy computer soon too. Pray that a laptop will arrive, courtesy of UPS, at my door. Hehe…. hey, a girl can dream can’t she?

Butchering Chickens
Posted By LaVonne in All About Chickens

My flock of meat birds is an interesting lot this year.  They are all very friendly and will come running as a group when they see you.  They think you have food!  They are also the most traveling flock I've ever had.  They are ranging far and wide to forage.  I am pleased with that.  That's the biggest reason I have them, for clean up!

I grow my birds slowly and without commercial grower.  I believe the grower ration only encourages them to eat more, grow fast and develope leg and heart problems.  Mine all seem very healthy and happy.  They still have some growing to do before butchering time.  That will come later in the fall.  If you'd like to see an excellent write up on butchering chickens, go to this link and read all about it!

Summers Almost Gone
Posted By SueEllenk

Summers almost gone and school is about to start soon.

I just don't know where the time went. Housing values are way, way down. Prices of goods are skyrocketing, but the price of gas went down a bit. I think it's about $3.57 a gallon right now. That's a big difference from a few months ago when everyone thought it was going to hit $4.00 a gallon.

Funny thing, property values went down, and yet our taxes went up. Go figure.

Do Everything Without Complaining or Arguing...
Posted By HandsNHearts

Dear Sisters,

"Do everything without complaining or arguing." Philippians 2:14

How I hear these Words in my mind over and over, especially when I want
to do one or the other. Mostly the complaining part. So within the last
year I have had this imaginary conversation with a woman from the mid
1800's; and when I am tempted to complain, rather than to thank God for
His many goodnesses, I say this silently to her in her era:

How can I complain when I can hold the whole counsel of God in my hands
and read it any time I want?

How can I complain when I can go to the sink and hot and cold water pours
out for me at the flick of my wrist?

How can I complain when at the push of a button I can have instant heat
on my stove?

How can I complain when it takes me minutes to load my washer and at the
push of a button all the work is done for me?

How can I complain when I can get into my car and be at a market within
15 minutes?

How can I complain when I can have hot or cold air piped into my car
while driving?

How can I complain when I can listen to the most beautiful music while
driving?

How can I complain when I can see the doctor or the dentist on the same
day I am suffering?

How can I complain when I can write a letter and send it to be received
on the same day I sent it?

How can I complain when the shelves are so full of good things at my
supermarket?

How can I complain when I can use double coupons to take off more than
half of the price of an item?

How can I complain when I can buy clothes cheaper than the cost of just
the thread at garage sales and thrift shops?

How can I complain when I can turn on this machine called a vacuum and it
sucks up all the dirt for me in my house?

How can I complain when I can turn my oven on and have a fresh cake in
thirty minutes using a mixer first to mix it?

How can I complain when I can sleep in front of a fan in the hottest time
of summer?

How can I complain when I can go to the air conditioned library in the
summer and use their computers for free?

How can I complain when I can talk to my mother in another state on a
moment's notice over a hands free phone?

How can I complain when all my trash is picked up every week by this huge
truck?

How can I complain when I can soak away my aches and pains in hot water
piped right into my tub?

How can I complain when I don't have to use an outhouse, rather a lovely
bathroom right inside my home?

How can I complain when I have this big above ground pool right in my
backyard to jump into when it is so hot?

How can I complain when with the flick of a switch I can listen to
Christian music on my radio while cleaning?

How can I complain when I have a closet full of clothes for my whole
family?

How can I complain when I can turn on my t.v. and learn a whole new
recipe from a celebrated chef for free?

How can I complain when I can go "shopping" from my freezer?

How can I complain when I can buy canned food for my winter pantry
already canned for me?

How can I complain when I can lay fully back in my chaise lounge chair on
a heating pad when I am ill?

How can I complain when I want to go to a concert that I can listen to it
right in my kitchen on a CD?

How can I complain when at the flick of a switch I can light up a whole
room?

How can I complain when at the flick of a switch my bread machine starts
mixing my ingredients for me?

How can I complain when I can go to the library and obtain any book, CD,
magazine, or recipe I want?

How can I complain when I can open a door and all kinds of foods are kept
cold for me in my fridge?

How can I complain when at the flick of a switch I can blend a wonderful
drink or batter?

How can I complain when at the flick of another switch my iron is hot and
ready to smooth out the wrinkles before church?

How can I complain when I can add numerous long numbers accurately with a
calculator I bought for a dollar?

How can I complain when I need glasses now to read when I bought them for
a dollar at the Dollar Store?

How can I complain when I have so many competitive stores to shop from?

How can I complain when I just turn on a hose to water my plants?

How can I complain when there are so many beautiful parks to behold?

How can I complain when the roads are so smooth and easily traveled?

How can I complain when I can fly anywhere at a moment's notice if need
be on an airplane.

How can I complain when there are shampoos, toothpastes, soaps, and
cleansers of all kind to clean, clean, clean?

How can I complain when I can flick a switch and a crockpot slowly cooks
my food all day while I am away?

How can I complain when I can warm our bed before we get into it with the
softest electric blanket?

How can I complain when my family is far away who I can talk to on a cell
phone?

How can I complain when not having a vacation because I've got one whole
day a week to enjoy?

How can I complain?

How can I possibly complain?

"For if a man begets a hundred children and lives many years, so that the
days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with
goodness...I say that a stillborn child is better than he...though it has
not seen the sun or known anything, this has more rest than that man,
even if he lives a thousand years twice - but has not seen goodness."
Eccl. 6:3-6

How can I complain when every day is such Sweet Sabbath Rest with Him?

Love,
Laine

God's pharmacy
Posted By Michele

It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and  fish... All before making a human. He made and  provided what we'd need before we were born. These  are best & more powerful when eaten raw.   We're such slow  learners...
God left us a great clue as to what foods  help what part of our  body!
God's Pharmacy!  Amazing!

A  sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The  pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... And YES, science now shows carrots  greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the  eyes.

A  Tomato has four chambers and is red. The  heart has four chambers and is red. All of the res  earch shows tomatoes  are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart  and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound  heart and blood vitalizing food.

A  Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums.  Even the wrinkles or folds on  the nut are just like the neo-cortex We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen  neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak.  These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocadoes,  Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents c ervical cancers. And how profound is this?  It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow.  Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

Anyone Else Out There Tried "No-Poo?"
Posted By Naise

I thought I wasn't too fond of Ms. Fru-gal (frugal, that word just grates). Then I came across this "No-Poo" concept, and I have a whole 'nother word to give me the heebees. Sounds like something I need to consult a physician about.

So, I'm trying NO SHAMPOO, and so far have had pretty good results.

First let me introduce you to my hair. I have ALOT of it. ALOT. If you come within two feet of me, you will have ALOT of my hair too. I shed. It's thick, and long, curly, and color treated (yeah, I'm vain like that). I know that I am sensitive to many hair product ingredients,  especially in shampoos. So, it makes sense for me to try an alternative if possible.

When we came back from Cali. a few weeks ago, my hair was a mess. While we were there, the change of climate, water softness, and humidity, all added up to a tangle of frizz . Oh so pleasant. Here I was, seeing relatives and friends for the first time in years (some nearly 20 yrs.), and my hair looked something akin to "light socket Linda".  When something takes up that much of your personal space, you don't want it to be a hazard to others. I could have poked someone's eye out or something.

I figured, what better time then now to try something new. Probably couldn't get much worse. I was, however, concerned about the effect on my color.

So far, so good. I'm using a baking soda recipie every few days for my scalp. I rinse my hair every time I want to style it (because of the curl). I still use my usual hair spray. I do notice I'm not wanting to wash it every day like I did with regular shampoo. I don't like dirty hair, so this is a big thing for me. It's had no effect on my color that I can tell. (Probably better for it, since I'm not washing so much anyway)  I may want to use "poo" once in a while. I'm leaving that option open. Overall, I'm pleased.

Anyone else out there tried this? If so, what do you use, and how's it workin' for ya?

Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll tightly from long end of rectangle. With serrated knife, cut into 8 rolls. Place in prepared pan.
