The Homemaker's Mentor: year-long lessons & a giveaway!

Posted in Contests

Many of you know Martha of MarmeeDear.com and Rebekah of Hope Chest Legacy. Well, they have come together to offer us a wonderful year-long program called The Homemaker's Mentor. Below is the info that I have received in my email recently. Jeannie had this to say about the program, "I joined the Marmee Dear and the lessons look really nice and simple enough, I think it would make for a great way for those of us who can sometimes fall on the way side of homekeeping/being a keeper of the home, I look forward to the "free" lessons they will put out on top of the lessons they have when you subscribe."

I have a FREE Lesson to give away, so leave me a comment and tell me which of the lessons featured below sounds like the ONE for you! The free lesson may not be on that topic, but I'd love to hear you share what you'd like to learn to do in 2008. I'll be blogging on Friday about my plans to learn something new (actually 12 "somethings") and so I thought that this would be a great way to get a conversation going!! I'll choose a winner on Friday, Jan 11th, so get your comments in before then.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM MARMEE!

We are so excited to have you join us!
Martha & Rebekah

I have been busier than ever and am so excited to remind you about my new ministry in mentoring homemakers around the world along with my dear friend, Rebekah of HopeChestLegacy.  We already have members from Canada, Australia and the big wonderful USA!

Together, Rebekah and I, have created the HOMEMAKER'S MENTOR that is an online course for a full year to instuct and mentor homemakers in the spirit of Titus 2.

You only need a valid email address and internet access to join us along with a willing heart to serve your family.  We already have a lovely group in of members in the HMM and the first mentoring lessson is ready for members.  There will be 24 full lessons for a very small fee!
Our new subscribers

We have a list of confirmed lessons below, but we also anticipate
several additional free lessons by well-known authors in their field of
interest. The topic of the lessons are secret until the authors complete
their writing, but as they are written and submitted we will be making
them available to each of our subscribing members as a free gift for enrolling with us.

We are having a great time getting to know each other on the private FORUM created for the HMM members.  This makes it just like we are all together in my living room having a time of sharing and learning!
Again --- each member must have basic email service and a current valid email address and internet access to view the lessons and the forum.

Jan. 2, 2008 - The perfect lesson for me...

"Children's Clothing - Storage Solutions & Organization" That sounds great! The amount of children's clothing has multiplied exponentially with each child God has added to our family. I really must find some sort of system for dealing with it all, lol!

Jan. 2, 2008 - Another Great Idea from Marmee and Rebecca!!

Posted by wannabeone

What a great idea!! The Lord has blessed you with such a creative mind and heart for homelife.

It's so hard to pick just one of your offerings, so here's 3 that hold an interest to me and I'll leave the rest to you...

1) Growing an Indoor Herb Garden & How to Use Fresh Herbs. ~ My daughters and I have an interest in this very subject...particularly keeping one going through the whole year. Ours seems to fizzle out after a few months and we would like to better our herb growing.
~~ By the way...have you considered an e-class on growing a summer kitchen/herb garden?

2) Long Term Food Storage & Simple Emergency Preparedness. ~ I spend the bulk of our daughters' senior years on life skills; this would be a great addition, especially the Emergency Preparedness.

3) My Kitchen - A Restaurant? ~ One of the things we like to do is have people from our church, family and local homeschool community over for supper, from time-to-time. We have been considering making this a weekly to bi-weekly arrangement. This may be something that would help us in our goal to help our daughters learn the art of hospitality.

Thanks for the opportunity!

Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><

Jan. 2, 2008 - Herbs & Beans

Oh, they all sound great! But I am especially interested in two of them: "*Growing an Indoor Herb Garden & How to Use Fresh Herbs, & *Beans, Beans & More Beans - Using Dried Beans for Simple, Delicious & Frugal Meals."

Jan. 2, 2008 - My poor pantry

Posted by Daryn

I grew up in the Land of Drive-Throughs and Boxed Dinners. Now that we are parents, we see the need to purify and simplify our eating habits. We are doing an Ok jobs so far. We can check off water, bread, and milk. We have been overhauling the pantry for some time. I THINK it is stocked well enough. But right now it resembles the closet that you see on TV. You know the one I am talking about. It is the one where you open it, shove in what you have, and then close it quickly hoping that the tower of beans didn't collapse when you threw in your new item. We have some organizing to do, and I think the lesson called "Pantry Principles: Organizing and stocking your Pantry" would give some much needed guidance.

Family Meals - Making This Special Time Together Happen!

I would love to see how our family could actually make this happen a few days each week. It's hard to bring everything with a husband that works a ton of hours (at all hours) and 4 children ranging from 16 to 2 weeks.....

Looking foward to seeing all the lessons.

The "Children's Clothing - Storage Solutions & Organization" interests me as I have seven children and their clothes can be unruly and we don't have that many out in their drawers or closets but it still gets out of hand.

blogged ya:

Canning blackberry jam and other fruits! - I am addicted to blackberries in any form! And I am totally petrified of canning. Maybe you could call it "Canaphobia". As I am new to the staying a home blessing, I can use all the help I can get!
