Raising Pigs on the
As spring time approaches on our homestead so do the thoughts of raising another batch of pigs. Last spring we butchered 5 pigs that we had raised over the winter. That was quite the adventure for us! This year we are considering raising a few pigs during the spring and summer in order to be able to feed them all of our surplus goat milk.
Every time we raise pigs from piglets to freeze we experience a tremendous amount of homesteading satisfaction. If you are set up properly for them they are not a difficult animal to raise for meat. Plus, you will find that the taste of your own homestead grown pork is fabulous!
If you would like to read more information on raising your pigs for meat I suggest reading this good and informative article from a past issue of Countryside Magazine.
