Proper Temperatures for Your Chicken Brooder
Remember that while your chicks are in the brooder you need to maintain the proper temperatures for them. It should be about 95 degrees for the first week. After that you can decrease the temps by approximately 5 degrees a week.
One simple way to tell if your brooder is the right temperature is watch the behavior of the chicks. If they are all huddling under the heat lamp, then it is too cool. If they are as far away from the heat lamp as they can get, it is too hot. If all of the chicks are nicely spaced and moving around the brooder then the temps are just right.
