Find a local farmer's market
Posted in News and Issues
Well the Carter family garden isn't looking too good right now. We ummm.... used hay instead of old straw to mulch it and now have a lovely crop of grass choking out our veggies and things are starting to get a bit parched in there as well. Oh dear....
Nonetheless, I found this link to the
USDA Farmer's Market Listing and thought I'd share it with you all.
If your garden is doing better than ours, maybe you can sell a few things, but if you're in the same boat that we are maybe you can go BUY a few local goods!
Blessings,
~Nancy

and once you learn that hay vs/ straw lesson, it will never leave you! We are mulching this weekend ourselves to try and keep some of the well water on the plants instead of evaporating. Because it's beginning to look like it will never rain again......

Yep. The ol' hay trick only has to be learned once. We tossed out a couple of buckets of unsatisfactory wheat once--nice cover crop.
Our garden is just a remnant of the old one--which was huge! But it is growing marvelously right now! A few days of sun makes all the difference in Western WA. June is coming. That means rain. A lot of drizzly rain. And the corn seems to sense this and is growing for all it's worth. Mrs. Burns, I'll trade you some of your June sunshine for some of our June drizzle!

Can we got retroactive and you can have some May sunshine? It's not scorchingly hot here, and there's a nice breeze at times. But it is so dry thatwhen the birds land on the ground, a little dust cloud kicks up. And I am not exaggerating. Enjoy that liquid gift from God and pray that our well pump holds up until we can get a decent hurricane or tropical storm action down here,.......

...that takes a garden. This year I planted some bib lettuce and the seeds were eaten by chipmonks!
Try, try, again!
